stickshift
I'm overdue for a clutch kit for my 72. My small block makes somewhere between 350 and 400 horses. I am considering a Zoom clutch kit. They offer original, street-strip, and race. I am considering the race clutch. If any of You guys are running a 350+ horse Monte with a stick, what clutch are you guys running? Would a Zoom race clutch be too much for the street???
Guest Evil Austin
Simply the zoom race will be too much for the street. It will be chattery at low RPM's and in the entire RPM range it will be too grabby for the street. Go with a street/strip one and you will be glad you did. And if then... your motor is too much for that clutch, roast the old one off and put the race on, but I guarantee you if you get the race, you will not be a happy camper ! -EEvil Austin
Guest caddycarlo
Though I am big block I have had a lot of luck with centerforce duel friction they are smooth I do not feel like it has hoops of peddle pressure and they work both cold and hot .... it has done very well ............... RichG
I second what caddycarlo says. I've had the centerforce dual friction clutch in my big block since 1990 and I love it. Reasonable pedal pressure and it hooks up hard when you want it to.
