stevns71monte Posted December 15, 2011 Share Posted December 15, 2011 is there anyway of telling between exhaust leak and a stuck lifter? my lifters have frozen up before and my exhuast has leaked before..... i cant tell between the two so i went to tighten my headers and collectors i got that all tightened up and it still tapping im assuming its a frozen lifter but i want to see if there is a difference between the two sounds before i assume the worst any thoughts? bobsmc Posted December 15, 2011 Share Posted December 15, 2011 if the exhaust is leaking it will usually have a black mark around the exhaust port that is leaking. once you find out which cylinder it os you could kill the spark and see if the noise is gone or still ticking.
