    454 question

1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo "W" code 454. CPD = 270 hp with TH 400 trans CRW = 270 hp with TH 400 trans, A.I.R My 2 cents Darren, In the Chevrolet by the numbers book the code CRN is Monte Carlo specific for 454 with th400, no mention of it being used for a Chevelle. I'm not a Chevelle expert but I'm getting below for Chevelles CRQ =th 400 360hp CRR =th 400 450hp sp hi perf CRT =3-4spd 360hp CRV =4-spd 450hp sp hi perf I know the guy that Daveys friends brother knows. 19. 147 - 1971 SS454 built on Oshawa. Of those 65 were sold in Canada and the rest exported to the USA.
  20. Here’s my 2 cents. 1) My # 1 choice for sure ,If possible purchase your SS from a current member of FGMCC who has done all the homework. Everybody here is real decent which reduces your chances of getting ripped off. It may cost a little more but worth it in the end. 2) Look at it yourself or by a member from FGMCC 3) This is where I will differ from other opinions. I have used auto inspectors before and had real good success. They drove the car, put it on a hoist, and did like 200 point inspection. I asked them to do the #'s matching thing which they did. I had one inspector kicked off a real reputable dealer’s showroom, because he caught them with some questionable # stamping. You get lots and lots of pictures. That being said I did have one inspection company who totally ripped me off. I would not hesitate to use an inspection company but only if they came highly recommended.
  21. I think Nate was collecting build sheets from members a few years ago. I'm not sure what happened with all the info he collected. Vaughn
  22. Great news on the Red carpet treatment Aaron!! Oh man, Last year it was the "Marauder gang" and this year I can see that we are going to tick off some Camaro owners being feature cars and all. Its Aarons fault!
  23. Welcome to the site Jay, good luck with your hunt for a SS. Car or no car, it would be great to see you at the Western meet.
