Looking good hear, snow almost gone, streets are dry but dirty, waiting for a good rain and street sweepers to get rid of winter salt and dirt. New air shocks and a couple of small leaks repaired, need to work on the compressor regulator but if the streets are clean before that happens the cover is off and were on the road.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
Grant MacPherson replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Rear shocks for me too, had a very small air leak I thought was the old shocks. They were a bit spongy anyway so New shocks and still very small leak (a few days to leak down) . So the hunt was on, soap water and trouble light in hand found a couple of fittings on level control unit leaking. Test back on so hopefully that's it. -
Great lists and pictures, thanks for sharing

I do use the AC a fair bit but drop the windows when I get close to my destination for the "cool effect "
-
That's because your in the mountains, we get pretty warm on the praries.

When I bought my 70 SS it had a mini starter (not sure what make) horrible noise, sounded like wrong gears. Replaced it with a new (took 3 to get one that worked) Sounds great now, those were new delco not remains.

When I replaced my blower motor on my 70 the Vin was right there and easily readable

Replacing motor mounts
Grant MacPherson replied to silver71mc's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
The correct way would be to pull the hood and take the wieght from the top "but" I have a half round piece of 2 x 6 cut to fit the balancer than use a hydraulic jack to take the wieght of the engine to pull the mounts. Haven't had a problem in 50 years but wait for feedback from others. Did my 454 oil pan seal last year this way. -
Not to question your choice, changed my 2.56 to 3.42, was determined I wanted 3.73 but the shop that did it told me every past customer he had put 3.73s in were not happy. I am glad I went with his recommendation, huge difference on take off and still able to cruise at 70 mph.

Wanted auto level compressor parts

Parts are hard to find, what do you need? -
Real Maple Syrup? That's a pricy air freshener.

Definitely banna worthy

Why do you drain the coolant? I always thought it was an anti corrosive and helped things from drying out like water pump head, intake gaskets? Just asking

Along with the other ideas, the last few years I have been blocking the suspension to take the weight off the tires. Trying to prevent flat spots.
-
If you install it Dennis, let us know how it works. I bought on a few years back but haven't needed it yet. Thanks

Congratulations, my wife Maxine and I also married in 71 and we had a full load 402 71. Looked for years for it ( sold in 81 ), finally gave up and found the 70SS we have today. Got a lot of tickets with that one, none with the 70 so far! We will be celebrating in June. Cars and first loves

Wanted 15x7 Rally Wheel
Grant MacPherson replied to black07ss's topic in Cars and Parts For Sale/Wanted
They should be able to straighten them if you have a wheel repair shop close by. -
Test your volt gauge before you close up your dash, mine is a few volts too high according do multimeter. Not sure if it is adjustable, thought maybe could just pull the needle and reinstall. Never called supplier, didn't want to go back in.

Thanks
