HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks Willie! Thankfully, a friend came to hang out during the car show and she has an SUV. 🙌

I was fortunate to win Best in Show today. 148 cars in attendance. They presented a check for $157k to Honor Flight and our military veterans. A good day all around!

Couldn't agree more, Dennis! Callie Anne and Joe knocked it out of the park. -
What a great time I had with these guys. I'll leave it to you to figure out who's who but I'll tell you that each of them is a frequent contributor here on the site and you know them by their screen name, I'm sure. So nice to finally meet these guys!

Congratulations Willie! You were the first person I ever talked to when I joined this club a number of years ago. It was great meeting you over the weekend and I look forward to seeing you again at a future meet. You are very deserving of the Ambassador Award! 🙌 -
https://www.ocautocarpets.com/ makes reproduction mats and carpet. Very good quality!

Excellent tip re: connect the cable and apply the brake. I'll do that when I install the new cables!

Thanks Greg! @GRAY 70 Monte Carlo

Hey guys, any tips on removing the front section of the parking brake cable between the pedal and where it goes through the frame? I understand the cage lock at the top of the footwell but the rest seems to be a stiff little bugger with difficult access.

Forward Lamp Harness/Engine Harness connector
TheBMan replied to 1970Monte's topic in Electrical Tech
I replaced the engine harness in my '70 and not only did it have that goop on the firewall terminal mount, the company that supplied the new harness, https://www.lectriclimited.com/, provided new goop. It's to prevent fumes from entering the passenger compartment from the engine bay and it also provides weather protection. You should absolutely use the stuff when you do your repair or replacement. -
Thanks for this very timely info, Rob!

If the rings are aluminum, which they most likely are, be sure to add some anti-seize between the ring and the hub otherwise those two dissimilar metals will “weld” themselves together over time. It’s a process called galvanic corrosion.
-
Absolutely add them if they're available, especially for non-steel wheels such as yours. They keep the wheel centered on the hub and prevent vibration and unnecessary stress and wear on the studs and wheels. Steel wheels, if they're the correct wheel for the car, fit the hub so there is no need for rings. Your mechanic is correct, multi-fit wheels should have them.

Decent condition and rare if legit. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-chevrolet-monte-carlo-32/

This is great info! I'll break out my factory manual, it never occurred to me that it would have that info. Thanks Joe!!

I understand that any moisture in the system is bad, that's why I sealed the remaining system (which had been in use for just a few hundred miles and was operating great) when I removed the compressor last fall. I will not be flushing the system because it's a PIA (and why I sealed the system when I removed the compressor), I will be replacing the drier and evacuating the system thoroughly. Just trying to figure out how much oil to reinstall back into the system.
-
Yes.

I had my A/C apart over the winter and I'm about to reinstall and charge. Trying to determine how much oil remains in the system so I can determine how much oil to add back into the system. I've drained the compressor and I know the capacity for it. I'm replacing the drier but I don't know how much oil will remain in the evaporator and condenser, approximately of course. The lines have been off the car and drained. Whatever remains (approximation) in the evaporator and condenser will be subtracted from the total system capacity. Thoughts?

I'd like to see it up close; who knows what's under the paint, but if it's truly a numbers matching 402 car, it's probably worth what he's asking. https://www.maplemotors.com/inventory/5435/info.php
