  1. @Lou I hope one of these helps!
  2. @Rob Peters, @jft69z, @1970mcss, @Glen - Pictures attached. It was an easy fix to route the line behind the battery and under the tray. Obviously this is the correct route. Once again, you guys come through. Thanks so much!!
  3. @Rob Peters Thanks for the pictures. There isn't any way that my line can go between the battery and the radiator but I think @jft69zJoe's setup may be the solution (under the battery). It looks like @1970mcssPaul's car does the same thing. I'm going to mess with it later today and see if it works that way. I'll report back here. Thanks men!
  4. Thanks @Rob Peters! There is no room to go between the battery and radiator on my car and the way the line is bent wouldn't allow that regardless. I'm very curious about what you have!
  5. Thanks Glen! I think the proper routing is around the battery, like yours, but I'm hoping to get feedback from a few of my peers to confirm.
  6. I got a new liquid line for my A/C system. It goes from the drier to the expansion valve. As you can see from the photo, I have the line routed around the battery but the line is stretched very tight. I mentioned this to the maker (Original Air Group) and they said that they think the proper routing is over or beside the battery (between the radiator and the battery). Does anyone know for sure what the proper routing is?
  7. Here they are back on the engine with the correct spark plug heat shields. I also used new bolts/washers.
  8. No, I just assumed they were correct (black). The silver makes much more sense. I love this club because everyone is full of good information and willing to share. 👍💪 I ordered the kit from eBay already.
  9. I'm bookmarking this website! Thanks @jft69z!
  10. This looks like what I need. The mounting bolts I have are black but I'll bet they were originally silver (to match the grille, as you mentioned). Thanks @MC1of80!
  11. Anyone know a source for new 1/4-20 x 5/8" or 1/4-20 x 1/2" SEMS bolts? SEMS bolts are bolts with a non-removable washer. The bolts I'm looking for are used on the top of the grill to mount to the body. Must be black. I've searched online and can find 7/8" length but those will be too long. Picture attached.
  12. Thanks! Ceramic coating is super durable. I don't think it will retain the original look, which is what I was going for. I'm hoping this coating lasts a while. I met a guy last year who had used this coating several years ago on his Corvette and it still looked great. Granted, his car isn't driven often and very low mileage per year - but that's true of mine as well.
  13. The original exhaust manifolds on my Monte Carlo were looking tattered so I removed, sandblasted and coated them with Eastwood high-temp coating. I've seen others that have used this coating and it appears to be long-lasting and durable. I used the brush-on and then followed it with a coat of the spray. Image left to right: Original. Sandblasted. High-temp coating applied.
  14. @Rancid87 This is GREAT!! Thank you!!
  15. @Grant MacPhersonThat would be great! Thanks!
  16. Thanks @jft69z Joe. I did talk to Original Air Group, they didn't know. I have o-ring kits but the problem is that there are a few o-rings that are very close in size to one another. Trying to pinpoint the correct one. I think I just need to give it my best shot based on experience and logic. 😎 I was hoping someone had a parts reference book that had specifics. The regular factory service manual does not. Thanks!
  17. Nobody has a parts reference for this?
  18. Well, it's that time of year; time to get the car ready for summer drives and show season. Does anyone know the specs for the o-ring shown where the arrow is pointing? Mine is leaking and I can't find the size/spec in the manual. I've replaced it before using one of those kits you get from the various reproduction parts houses but I wonder if it's the correct size. I'm looking for dimensions. For example, 11/16x1/16. Thanks for the help!
  19. @Cooltech Hey Scott, sorry for the delay, I just saw this! I used the original loop style because I do just about everything I can to keep the car as original as possible.
  20. @1970mcss Hey Paul, I ordered the carpet with the "mass backing". I did not use anything else/extra between the carpet and the metal pan of the car. Sound deadening and comfort is good!
  21. Here's an update after I got the wires installed. I would have to say that this set from Lectric Limited fits as good or better than any I've seen before. I'd recommend the set. I also purchased new valve cover wire looms/holders. I'm looking for two special looms for the left bank that I'll create a different post about. @jft69z
  22. Sorry @Brew, didn't mean to wire shame you.
  23. @jft69z I haven't installed them yet! I'll update here when I do.
  24. I purchased a set of reproduction spark plug wires for my 72 Monte Carlo (small block). Since the wires are different lengths, especially two oddballs that I wasn't sure about, I wanted to be sure I got the routing and position correct. It's not as cut and dry as it appears. It's deceiving because, of the eight wires, six of them are matched pairs. This would make you think that they go to opposing cylinders on opposite banks. Nope, that isn't true. And what are the two oddballs for? A while back, @jft69z posted an image of the routing and the factory part numbers for each wire. This is immensely helpful. That post can be found here: https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/topic/22499-spark-plug-wire-looms-holders/&tab=comments#comment-215443 In the wire set that I purchased (from https://www.lectriclimited.com/) was a sheet that specified the length and position of each wire. I thought this might be helpful as well if someone was making their own wires or wanted to use it in addition to what Joe T. posted. Attached is an image of that page and a picture of the wire set. Use it combined with what Joe T. posted and you can't go wrong. I hope this helps anyone who is going to replace or make their own spark plug wires.
  25. @jft69z This looks great, Joe. Thanks for all the info. I think I'm going to do what you did - have someone chrome the grille and then do the detail work myself. I'll call Chris for sure. Thanks, man!
