  1. The GM Heritage Website lists CRN and CRQ as 1970 454 with TH400 as Monte Carlo Blocks. also picture of Gang Stamp they used [/u RL] I am thinking that block you have may have been a 3969854 which was a 396/402 block ground off and tried to be passed off as a 512 ?? Just guessing Darren
  2. I had the FAST system on my 71 shortbox, the engine was custom built and was the Top system that Fast offered with the O2 and Fuel Pressure and Intake manifold they recommended. I had Nothing but troubles with this system. Even when the Boys from FAST were up in Calgary AB from the USA they looked at it at JB's Power Center in Town and swapped the Brain twice and and ran scanners on it and nothing pointed out what the problem was. She always bogged out and Stalled at lights and stop signs and at highway speeds variable she always sputtered. $2800 was spent on this unit and the complete install and only ran better when it was all removed and sat in a box on the floor. Smoked the tires from here to the corner with no FAST system and ran like a dream but I wanted the fuel economy and quick responce it was rated for 650hp this system and was custom installed by them. The 383 in the truck was rated for 500hp, chances are I got a bad system but who knows all I know is I was not impressed and never got another system or cash back. Darren.
  3. Hi Dennis, It wasn't stock on my SS but you could get them Dealer Installed. I had one on my 1970 chevelle ss the Gobi Beige one, it was factory installed on the 454 and really helped keeping the heat from the intake from warming up in the stainless fuel line thus making it runs smother in the heat. The last Western Meet I went to in Penticton BC it was 104 degree's for 2 days and I had one I put on my 402 4spd monte and it ran very well with no hesitations and smooth driving. This one I installed was an NOS one with the GM blue and white envelope and Dealership stamp on it. The GM part number can be seen opposite the firing order. Darren
  4. Got a little bit more done today Darren
  5. Rob If you check on Tire Rack under Tire size and enter in 225 70 15 you will see under Specs it matches up to what you are after I believe It shows a 225-70-15 = 27.4 Darren

  7. Wow, Time has flown by, but not all fun as some of you know that are not only on the site that see me. First Donny its all painted by brush... Now it's been 11 months... I ran into more kidney issues yet again and along the way to figuring out where my pain was coming from an why and also why I was having heavy scaring in my lungs and calcified Granuloma show up.... long and short. To go with my Chronic Kidney Disease I also have Pancreatitis which I am told goes hand in hand with Kidney disease and Dr's not surprised it showed up along with Chronic Granulomas Disease. without going into the Oxford dictionary for a full explanation I have been dealing with lots of pain and high BP on top of a botch Laproscopic surgery that has left me with non repairible Nerve damage in my stomach so no lifting so they say and trust me I have tried and suffered. Anyhow in my good days that I got here and there out of 11 months here is an update for you guys. The whole complete rolling chassis is now all back together and every single piece or nut and bolt was replaced and oem parts rebuilt and nos added. I even managed to find an original Firestone matching Spare tire never used .... Darren
  8. This is where I got my thoughts from Rob and besides haveing them on a couple of Chevelle's I had...... Darren
  9. Hi Rob, yes the whitewalls would better suit our cars but I am going with the Coker Tire Bias Ply Tires.. Darren
  10. Sad to hear this news...... Darren
  11. Mine shows the Z20 on the Cowl Tag... That is Bizzare Vaughn for sure, and I know both of yours are from Oshawa as well. Darren
  12. There are 3 over here in the Calgary Alberta area, including mine built in Oshawa. Out of the 147 Canadian Built not all of them were sold in Canada, GM made some in Oshawa that were built here and shipped stateside as export sales. Those USA sold canadian cars still have the availibility of GM Documentation. I found 2 of what Aaron referred to as Line Sheets or Line Orders, 1 was under my Drivers side bucket seat and the second Line Sheet was under the console that was bolted to the floor as well as having the GM documentation from Oshawa and the original Bill of Sale from Saskatoon Motor Products in 1971 and then the owner moved to Orangeville Ont in 1972 where it lived until I bought it last summer (2015). 13. General Motors maintained the two division production at the Leeds Assembly plant for 40 Years The Fisher/Chevy Wall in the Leeds assembly came down in 1969 when the General Motors Assembly Division (GMAD) was formed which consolidated all assembly operations under one division. General Motors divisions (Fisher Body, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac and GMC) were divested of assembly responsibilities. In the 1970s Leeds produced the classic Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and the Malibu and El Camino vehicles. SEE Last Line... Yes Leeds (Missouri) produced chevrolet vehicles and Fairfax made Pontiac,Oldsmobile,Buick. Darren
  14. All SS Cars whether it was Chevelle or Monte carlo or Nova, Impala all had Black Columns. Now there was no controlling those who wanted a Tilt column instead that didnt have a tilt in their ss were swapping it out and putting in a matching interior coloured column in their SS. Darren

    Rarest of Rare

Thats cool Aaron, and I noticed it is also one of the converted one's from 1970 in a Right Hand Drive. Here are some pictures from a 1970 chevelle that was also sent over with the conversion done, also right hand drive. It looks weird ! Darren
  17. I bought my rear ss bumperpad from The Parts Place Inc about 6 months ago and was in stock. Got it shipped here and compared it to the original on the back bumper and it was like looking in the mirror. $399 was the price back then. Darren

    Rarest of Rare

The Hunt is on.... hahahaah Was logged on to the heritage site as my user name and password still works after all these years. Here is an interesting part that I came across and think this trumps all other rare models as a "you have it,its the rarest". Can you imagine how many heads would turn after seeing one of these let alone the 4 SS cars in 1971 ? A total of 12 1971 Monte Carlo's were shipped to Australia in 1971 and converted to RH drive, 4 of these were SS models from the 1,919 produced. Darren

  20. Hey Jeff, welcome to the site....!!! The truck motor mounts on the Block wont work, but the 350 Frame mounts already in the Monte will work with Engine mounts or motor mounts that you buy from Napa or Jegs or Pep Boys or ? for a 1970 Chevelle or Monte or El camino 454. they are all the same, just bolt to the block and drop her in... Darren
  21. Jeff, I sent you a PM.. Darren
  22. Aaron is correct, the Top rad cover with the Tab was for the Big Block Car's that came with AC. Non AC cars didnt get the Tab unless you had the 70 chevelle ss with the LS6, those cars never came with AC but still got the Tab as it was the High Horse engine that came with the 4 core rad as standard equipment. My 71 Monte SS from Oshawa is a Non AC car and has No Tab but did come with the 4 core rad in it as the Tags are still date coded on the side of the rad and just had it rebuilt and had it confirmed as well. Darren.
  23. Thats good Dennis, haha I read it again an yes you are correct. It can be read in a couple of different ways and have different meaning such as looking at the picture and saying its the bolt on the Left, Right..... hahaha Darren
  24. Hey Glen I know it was probably an oversite but if thats the REAR swaybar then you have rear disc brakes like the front ones...... Darren
