Thats Great Joe, I had the same thing. The 72 had not run for about 5 yrs and then when I got her running she ran fine but no brakes. I am gonna check the master cylinder to see if she is dry, if so thats shot or very doubtfull the diaphrame is shot in the booster.. Good luck on compression test..... Darren.
  2. I know I felt bad as well, why did it take a full week since getting the car before I got that back on.... its out of the norm for me, it should have been on before night fall the same day.... hahaha Darren. Larry and Sam............
  3. It was Yesterday but I got the Rear SS Bumperpad put back on the 71SS.. Darren.
  4. Haha . Vaughn has a manual steering big block car.... you just reminded me Sam, there is a guy 10 minutes from my house that has a 1971 El Camino with a 350 and BW 4spd and it has manual steering. Darren.
  5. Yes it does Ert, I have seen guys that do the conversion from column to floorshift and only have the shifter and console and dont want the hassle of console harness so they put the nuetral safety switch on the column and just run the factory wires still there for reverse and the column shift rod is still hooked up and the column collar still turns as you change from P to R,N,D,L1 L2. when on a buget or just dont know how to run or where to find the console harness its easier to put safety switch on column rather than shifter... They did that in the Camaro,Trans am and Grand Prix as none of them had the nuetral switch on the shifter when it was the Stick shifter with button on top.. the horse shoe camaro did have Nuetral on shifter though Darren
  6. Our Monte Carlo's did come with Manual steering as well on certain models. I know a fella that has a 1971 Monte Carlo and is a 402 4spd car and it has Manual steering from the Factory and also has NO clutch fan just a straight blade with no moving clutch at all also from the factory that way.. Sam you know who I am talking about.. Dont forget when you change the box you WILL have to shorten the Intermediate shaft length as the Power Steering shaft is longer. The manual box has about a 6-7 reach on the shaft from the box to where the knuckle or rag joint does up... Darren.
  7. Hey Jim, I am gonna say that is from a 1971 Chevelle. It will work in the monte carlo. based of the wire color and the emergency/hazzard light switch and nice to see the horn wire and how it twist locks into the black Horn Plate is not broken . if you have the firewall plate and gasket then thats a bonus, the mounting plates are the same on a chevelle and monte. The pontiac and olds mounting plate look the same but the distance from center to center where it bolts up is wider than ours. Darren.
  8. Does it have a Chrome Hazzard lights button on the side or a Plastic one to tell the year ? but by the looks of the turn signal lever it looks to be a 1970. on the harness plug in, the wide flat one are the end two wires Black and Black/pink or Black and solid pink next to it ? and final question how far apart from center to center are the steering column plate bolt holes. This way we can tel if its for a chevelle/monte or a Pontiac like a lemans or catalina ? Thanks Darren.
  9. I have had 2 1970 montes and 5 1970 chevelles with Fiber Optics and they all had Front and rears and as Carl said they included both front and rear as the package. Darren. PS find a set for a 1970 Chevelle Convertible and you have found a pot of gold as they are worth Hen's Teeth..
  10. Thats great Glen, I think your body guy's "Issues" are what we call a SNOWBALL.... hahaha I hate those Dam things.. nice new paint Glen cant wait to see. Darren.
  11. Here are a couple of Pictures Mike. But first, 1970 was the only year that used or came with Green illumination or if you look very close at each gauge the markings will have a Green tinge to them as well as the inside of housing that the gauges sit in will be a light lime green colored surrounding as well as the top of the outside of the dash cluster where the 3 1/4inch screws hold the cluster to the dash housing. 1971 and 1972 came with a light blue in the areas I just descibed and the gauge faces were White instead of green tinged. If yours are Green then someone has changed the cluster in your 1972. They will still work the same for all intense purposes but just wont be 100% correct visually to a numbers guy. The i94 Bulbs were used in all 3 years and are the correct AC Delco Bulb but in early 1970 from the tail end of 1969 GM still had the Tower sockets which held the 168's and those were in the early gen chevelles and Monte's until GM or the Plants ran out and the short sockets and 194's were started to be used.. hope that makes sense ? ans most clusters took 17 bulbs and sockets with the others taking 15-16 bulbs and sockets. to get more confusing was if your cigarette ashtray came with a finer optic tube it stole its light source from the back of the dash cluster using a special socket and 194 bulb and a miniture brass holder for the finer optic tube... Darren.
  12. Looks good Dennis, are those variable rated springs from Moog ? Darren.

Hey Joe, sometimes if you look back through our "For Sale" section you can find someone who might or start a post or thread in that section simply stateing Looking for a descent 1971 grill. And see if anyone replies..... just my thoughts and nice to have a 71ss isnt it......? Darren.
  14. And then again in the Monte Carlo I get the smae answer....... GO FOR THE BIG BLOCK....!!!!!! Darren
  15. I thought about that too Brandon but everytime I opened the hood to look..... the answer was always there...... 1970 chevelle SS Darren
  16. Odd questions for you...... do the Brodix heads offer the same water pocket holes (jackets) as the factory ones and are the jacket openings the same size Kevin ? The bolts used to tighten down the heads are they OEM bolts or new style that May Not be the same thread pitch and Taper ? taper meaning obviously the threads, are they a triangle shape when looked at like OEM I have seen some bolts that are not triangle threads they are tooth like or rectangle and the threads break off thus stripping. Are the head bolts also the same length as OEM ? maybe useless questions Kev, last but not least, just Buy Vaughns insane engine he had in that 72 Custom from Leo Konnik hahahaha.. Darren.
  17. Hey Tim, welcome to the club nice to see you posting... just giving you a heads up... the 255-60-15's are 25.6 tall not 27.0 and our Factory Tire size was available in two sizes normally a G70 but you could get the G78 if your monte had the whitewall tires as they came in the G78 The Wide Ovals came in a G70. The G70 equals a 225-70-15 which is 27.0 tall and close to Factory at 27.4 tall.. the G78 was 27.7 tall and really narrow being a 215-75-15 . Darren.
  18. I had a set of 17 x 11's on the rear of my 1970 Chevelle and 17 x 8.5 on the front. They had 335-35-17's on the back and 275-40-17's on the front. The rears had 6.26 offset and I had the same type of wheels on the 1970 Convertible Monte in a 17 x 10 on the rear and 17 x 8 on the front with 275-40-17's all around and a 5.75 offset on the rear. Both were Centerline Scorpion Wheels and drove awesome and smooth with Eagle ZR rated tires. Darren
  19. There are usually 2 adjustments or sometimes even 3 depending on the cable bracket that bolts to the tranny pan... the first one should be down at the tranny where the cable latches on at the one end. sometimes that has a slide adjustment where that nipple bolts onto. the second one will be at the other end where the horse shoe shifter is. as seen in the diagrame top right corner the writing that shows where the PAWL is, directly under that there is a 1/2 bolt or 7/16ths that you can loosen to adjust back and forth almost an inch where that end of the cable hooks up on the other nipple. the 3rd but not often found is the bracket that bolts to the tranny pan that holds the end of the cable where the rubber boot starts those bolt holes are sometimes oval instead of round and there is little play there, but not very often at all. hope that helps. Darren.
  20. Yes Sam is correct. The bb opening when looked at from the front will see a bigger opening where the rad sits. Small blocks have almost a kidney pan shape there on the right side to fill in the gap for a smaller rad
  21. Hey Donny, I drove my stock 1970 Chevelle SS 454 4spd car from Calgary to our unofficial western meet in Penticton BC back in 2012 at 1100 miles round trip and then this year to the official western meet again in Penticton BC I took the white 70 402 4spd Monte same 1100 miles round trip and here is the Big one.... I am buying a 71ss in Oshawa ontario and she is travelling 6000 miles one way to Calgary and not on a trailer and thats another 454 car, Like Aaron said I would do it again in a Heartbeat although free gas would be a plus hahaha... Darren.
  22. The Back of the dash I dont have pictures of but name the colors of the wires and I will tell you exactly where they go... I love doing dashes and have done about 50 of them. you came to the right place to seek out help.. LOTS of knowledgable guys here......And Sam too..... Darren.
  23. You have mentioned about the transmission and engine and dash, did you order the Harness which coresponds to each of those you specified and the correct year as well ? The Year has to be correct FOR SURE. dont let them tell you they are all the same for the 3 years because they are Very wrong. they also make a 4spd harness as well so an automatic engine harness is for sure what you need. and Did you order the harness with HEI in mind or the stock set up as its different for HEI as well. AC cars also use a different forward harness. Sorry had to ask all this as I have done enough harness swap overs and had to deal with the wrong year and types of harness's and makes it harder to do. What colors and and which harness are they from ? Darren.
