  1. I ran Centerline Scorpions on both my 70 chevelle and 70 monte carlo. I had 17 x8's on the front with no issues and 17x10's on the rear of the monte as the rear quarter does not bow outwards like the chevelle rear 1/4 did with a 5.75 inch offset. and a 275 40 17 on the rears. the chevelle I put a 17x11's with a 335-35-17's and a 6.25 offset. Darren.
  2. Yeah that back rear 1/4 line is just not right. The buick rear 1/4 is just the same and too high, I always thought that like on mine the 70 chevelle convertible had the right lines....... man at $25gs he is really wishing huge........I got mine for less than that. Darren.
  3. Square Port not advisable on the Bottom Oval intake as you would have to put on an adapter plate which would now raise the carb and may hit the hood with air cleaner on it. If you are going through this much trouble to get an Oval winters intake and spending the money to get one go with a Rochester. Darren
  4. Sorry Sam, As Mentioned but forget to say OVAL PORT YES...... 1968-1969-1970 427 NOT 454 LS6 or L78 396 intakes are all Alluminum and in Oval Port or Rectangular you just have to watch the Part number of course. TOP picture is Rectangular and an LS6 Intake or 396 L78 , the Last 2 pictures are of a 1969 OVAL port Winters alluminum intake and is one of our members up here by me. Darren.
  5. You could use the 427 intake GM part number 3937793. It has the "Winters" snowflake up front beside the thermostate housing. Its Alluminum and was equivilant to the Low rise or what they called the Plane intake manifold. You wont have any mods to do for the clearance for the hood at all. Darren.
  6. Both of those parts (Clutch Fan) (Steering Rag Joint) were painted by brush. Dries with no paint brush marks so real nice. Same way Rob I will be flat on my back with a scrapper and heat gun and facesheild as I hjate chewing on rust flakes... hahaha Darren.

Hahahaha of course I will help, or help as much as I can seeing how its not a 5 minute drive there but will answer as much as I can My 72 is still all together Kris and that will have to wait until the 71 is done..Did you see your frame in my "Restorers" Posting Kris ? Darren
  11. Hey Bob I used Por-15 alluminum paint for the silver and then the gold is Brake Caliper gold for high heat and sticks to metal so the can says. Yes Sam my Butt was sore from sitting on the concrete for a long time painting the frame lol yes the Mounts are por-15 stainless to stand out like Retentative Detailing Does and then even used gold cadium grade 8 bolts to hold them down. Darren
  12. The Frame Started off as Vaughns Frame and then went to Kris and now back to my place. After I picked up the frame from Kris I took it to the carwash here in town and blasted it with hot water and dried it off and prepped for Por-15. With Larry's help I snagged these tires and had them shipped to me and mounted on the 15x7's, I will be going with the Derby caps and not the Disc brake caps you see here.. Darren
  13. Sorry guys, I got sidetracked on other projects and Monte's and just didnt get around to the 71 as of late. Here are some pics for now and some pictures are poor quality sorry but dumb phone camera, I have a digital one but for some reason never use it but will start.. Darren

Great start Kris, you have a ways to go but looks good so far.. who is this Vaughn Dude you speak of.....? Darren
  17. Yes, they are like a Wolf in Sheeps clothing as they say. They have the true complete Bias Ply look and appearance even down to the shoulder but the insides are modern Radial design. Quoted from Coker "The true vintage-style tread pattern give this tire the original look, while the steel belted radial internals make it the perfect choice for a car that will see plenty of miles. Coker uses radial construction that improves handling and ride quality compared to bias ply originals." Darren
  18. Well although they are not The Original tire sold on our Monte's I am going with a G70-15 that was sold on our cars but not a whitewall but rather as mentioned the Wide Oval O raised white letters. I ran a set of original Bias ply ones on my 70 chevelle LS5 and drove like a bag of ____. so This time I am going with the Radial ones but have the Bias ply appearance in tread and will see what they are like. I also love the whitewalls as I ran them on the 70 Convertible Monte and looked good but I wanted a sport look or Muscle car look so going to try these. Darren.
  19. 100% Guarantee you that is the correct Cruise Lever, It shows it in my GM Parts Book and also the Gm Sales Brochure from 1970 both on the Chevelle and Monte Carlo. The 1970 Electro Tip Wiper that was in the same place and was even more rare was Chrome with a Chrome button in 1970. Also had 6 70 chevelles with cruise and every one had that lever and 4 70 montes with the same one. Also have a NOS one in the GM Box in the garage with lead wire and part number on the box matches the parts book one for 1970.. just saying... Darren. PS. Ert Liams 71ss has the air ride tank and the cruise control as well, the cruise is mounted behind the tank between it and the PB booster on whats left of the fenderwell for space. looks original to me...
  20. Thats where it normally is Ert. Were you thinking it was somewhere else or were you just pointing it out ? Darren.
  21. As long as its not a 6500 Tach and block is Not a CRV or CRS or CRR. If it is sell the farm and don't let it out of your site until you have bought it hahahaha. I think most of you know where I am going with that and its a 1970...... Still dreaming.... Darren.
  22. Well the plan is to take the Monte from what you have seen all the way down to just the frame and rebuild the rolling chassis and put her all back together with LOTS of new stuff and going completely retarded with OEM. From This.... To This .... and then back to this.... will keep you posted... Darren.
  23. haha Darren.
