If you can send us a Picture of the Actual Vin on your car then we can tell whether the vin tag is a restamp maybe done by Volocars and the V was stamped by accident. The problem now is if you bring it to anyones attention at MVD they will have a hayday trying to find any past registered owners I bet other than volocars. out of curiosity can you go to your local MVD (Motor Vehicle Department) and ask for history on your vin but subbing it with a U and say you are looking at the car to buy and see if they have the history on it. Maybe just maybe they are one in the same car and a vin restamp has this messed up. just my thoughts, Darren D is the engine code for Inline 6, thats why the red letters show up on the last vin search I did and ran D as the engine code....
  3. Hey Jim, I even got mine from Inline Tube way up here for my 71 SS resto. Got every single Brake Line and Fuel Line and Emmisions Lines and even E brake Cables from rear brakes all the way up to E brake pedal inside the car. Everything fit perfect and no issues so far. Darren.
  4. Yep, It gets sandwiched between the headlight switch and the back of the cluster in the left side and then it runs down the side where two 1/4 screws hold it to the wiper switch and then the tail flat piece gets a single short silver 1/4 screw to hold it to the Dash frame where it goes up and over the steering column also on the left side just below the wiper switch when cluster is back in Dash. Darren
  5. HERE IT IS JARED YOU BETTER SNAP IT UP AS I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE THIS DARK AND OEM AS WELL..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/201593571801?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Darren
  6. Hey Jared, As far as I am aware no one is re-popping Green ones if your talking about the 3 spoke if not I dont think they repop the 4 spoke either. The 2 3 spoke that I have had in the past were both out of 69-70 Oldsmobile 442 cars like the one in my 71 Shortbox. its out of a 70 442 car that was triple green. Darren
  7. Sam, That is NOT the font and Die spacing that GM would have used to restamp any block. that part of the block that has the numbers missing is not a Stamped number its a casting poured number. there fore restamping over it GM would not do but someone who has a 1969-1972 402 block casting number 3969854 would shave off the last 4 numbers and try very poorly to stamp 3512 in it to pass a 402 off as a 454. Thats my guess and all the years I worked at GM and have dealt with these engines. my guess is that its a 1969 402 made to look like a 454. the heads and intake will all match if they are dated correct and will also lead you to find out what engine it is. Is it still worth anything...... Oh yeah it is, even a date coded 402 for 69 or 70 would be worth something. you can use it in your Nova and pass it off as a 396. GM used in the Chevelle and Nova the 396 which is basically the 402 that they used in the monte carlo in 1970 as well. Darren
  8. Roger, it will basically cost you the $354.95 plus shipping at first. If you can do all the work yourself you will have to drop the dash in order to remove the gauge cluster in order to install everything and to add the extra wires to your existing harness after you have relocated the Pin configuration on the main Plug In Head to the gauge package. if you cant do all this type of stuff be prepared to pay someone for at least 5 hours of labour to do so. Even though you replaced your printed circut board as you mentioned already that will NOT work for the gauge conversion with or or without the tach and weather you add your own choice of tach. the other gauges will need the new printed circut board in order for them to work. Thats just an outline for you. Darren
  9. I have not seen the Idiot Light Kits listed with Mike (sonnie24) at all, As Dan mentioned you can buy the kit and as a matter of fact I will buy the tach from you if you are willing to ship to me via USPS ? I will email Mike and ask him what the Tach's are worth seperatly and buy it from you unless you have a $$ figure in mind and we can go from there if that helps or works ? Darren
  10. If you wanted to save a bit of money that Ebay seller (Mike) also sells this complete kit that will allow you to use your old housing and comes with the extra wiring needed to add to your existing harness and tells you where the wires go and even has the temp gauge sensor as well that goes in the block and of course the printed circut board. the first listing doesnt come with the sensor or extra wires but Mike sells them seperatly too. Watch for the color of gauges too as 1970 has green lettering and this kit for 71-72 has white lettering . 11. I had a full set of Soft Ray glass out of my 70 monte in my 70 chevelle ss that I sold for $40g's Jared and it fit just fine inc back glass and windshield. Darren
  12. Then there is this poor picture for 1970-71. I lent my wiring manual out and dont have it back yet to copy that one.. Darren
  13. not really a Diagram but should help keep in mind this was later 71-mostly 72 wiring Darren

NA9 Evaporative Emission Control Just so everyone is clear what NA9 option is... Darren
  15. Hey Bob, the Amp Gauge wires are the Solid Black and Black with white stripe wires. They should be located on the Forward harness and when looking at the Block under the hood behind the power brake booster it will be the top of the right side block. Both have fuseable links in them at the other end by the volt regulator and the battery area when those links go you end up with problems or poor contact due to corrosion. Darren.
  16. I had 295-50-15's on the back of my 72 a few years back and the would rub if I had people in the back with a 4.5 inch backspace and 5 might be still not far enough over for you seeing how they bulge as you can see on my 15x8's. %.25 offset would have no rubbing for sure but you will still have the Buldge.. my 2 cents worth... Darren.
  17. worked on the new brakes lines on the monte today or at least the rolling frame. Also worked on the 72 el camino today and thought this was cool when I pulled down the drivers side visor and am glad no one tore it off back in the day like most did, Darren.
  18. They are correct, everything is the same... door handle , lock mechanism, power window motor and regulator or plain window regulator, even power door locks and wiring harness's and even the Rear 1/4 glass if you wanted to change that. Heck even the Back window and front windshield are the same. The door skin is the only difference. Darren.
  19. Lets hope it's not in an Explosive episode... that sounds great Rob.. Darren

  21. installed NOS centercaps, old ones were faded pretty bad. Darren
  22. well while waiting for parts to come in and with the christmas slow down on delivery times I jumped to restoring the OEM parts and then looking to see if the other parts were OEM as well and sure enough its all Date Coded and OE. I will keep the OEM stuff and just restore them as some parts I have already done. seems as if everything is numbers matching and dated correct still. I had no doubt as Ken seemed to be such a straight shooter. Darren.

    Trunk

Hey ERT , just my thoughts but not cast in stone. Besides putting a rubber grommit around that fuel line coming through the floor pan so it doesnt rub and wear through, I would think more along the line of the style of trunk mat thats in the Chevelle's. Its a rubber backed green splatter but a vinyl / rubber blend that can be wiped down when gotten dirty or if you had to undo that fuel supply line and it spills a bit then it will wipe off the matt. Some resto places sell it by the roll which you can cut and make fit, Carpet will soak it up and retain the fuel smell possibly. Just my 2 cents thats all... Darren
  24. never hurts to test fit the rims on the rear with no tires, measure the distance from the inside rim edge to the frame and then run a yard stick straight down the wheel well opening to the ground straight and measure the outside rim lip to the wheel well lip and see if the offset is where it needs to be with the same distance on each side then there should be no tire rub with the correct tire on. if the tires are too wide they will over buldge or round out off the rim and rub, the right size tires should have no sidewall buldge. like trying to put a 295-50-15 on a 15x8.... JMO Darren
  25. Here is the monte and yes 4 inch on the front and 10's on the rear and the chevelle, with 11's on the rear and 8's on the front Darren
