Chrome R/C mirror for pass side
stangeba replied to Jerry Skidmore's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
After several years the mirror will no longer stay in position and has become useless. Trying to see how I can fix it. Maybe if I spray some glue behind the mirror, adjust it, then let the glue dry???. -

Looking at the thousands of pictures on my PC today, since it's raining, and I decided to publish some of the best pictures of my 71 Monte. CARS Inc. came to my house in 2004 and took a bunch of pictures. One picture was used in their 2005 calendar and one or two in their catalogs. I'm so happy I bought my material to have my black cloth seats recovered from them in 1984 and many other items over the years. Click on this link and I hope you enjoy them. What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
stangeba replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Nice!! I like the top picture where it shows the ground, that is (will be) attached to the headlight switch. A very important connection!!! It's always the ground, if you have a problem. 🤣 -
Will a 72 olds 350 engine fan blade fit my 350?
stangeba replied to astrochimp's topic in Engine Tech
Jason, I added a 1971 or 72 Camaro FLEX fan to my 71 350 Monte back in 72 and at a slow speed stop and go cruise like the Woodward Dream Cruise, my engine does run hotter, according to the stock OEM gauge, but it has not yet overheated in 52 years. (Yes, I just jinxed it!!!) -

Could you attach a drill mtr to one end of any good cable, attach it to the speedo, spin the drill mtr and see if the speedo works? I have cruise and have replaced cables twice but I don't remember what one. (The latest was from the trans to the cruise unit and it is too long but works)

Reminds me of a customer who installed a "locking" gas cap on his Ford van to keep people from stealing his gasoline. It stopped running and they found the gas tank collapsed, because the (new) cap wasn't vented. Cost him plenty! (Late 1970's)

Great information! Thanks! I remember purchasing two additional rally wheels for my 71 when I bought snow tires. I haven't needed them, but needed one of the wheels to replace one after the tire store bent one of my original wheels removing the tire from it. I have one in the basement I should look at for the codes. I think it is one of the aftermarket wheels.

Thanks!

What does F-41 mean? Years ago I replaced my stock 71 350 7/8" ft anti sway bar with a 1-1/8" bar. A few years later I added the rear bar to my 71. I never did measure it.....

One thing to consider, if you can't reach WOT, is that the floor carpet + padding + a floor mat, may be too thick? I don't think I have ever checked mine for WOT in 52 years.

Here is my 71 but I added Speed Control so it has an extra bit of stuff. (Wish mine was as clean as yours!)

Sorry, long story, part of the Monte History story I am writing: I was a senior in high school and report cards just came out for the second to last period. I did well enough that my dad “allowed me” to order a new car. It was my money that I had saved all my life delivering the Detroit News, cutting lawn, and washing windows. I wanted a 1971 Camaro with both the SS and RS package because the Z-28 with RS package cost way too much and insurance was also much higher. Why a Monte Carlo? Around this same time, my brother in-law, who worked for Chevrolet Engineering at the GM Tech center in Warren Michigan, brought home a 1971 Monte Carlo. He needed to pick up some engine parts and took me along for a ride. When the ride was over, I was convinced that this was the car for me. I was also happy that the cost was below the Camaro I wanted, and I could get AM/FM Stereo, the Camaro only came with AM/FM MONO! In 1971 this was a big deal to a seventeen-year-old. In 1971 a working AM radio with a rear seat speaker OK but having a four-speaker stereo was so much better. I didn’t like 8 track tape players. I went to order my Monte Carlo from Bill Fox Chevrolet, the dealer where my dad knew a salesman. I placed the order carefully weighing the options I wanted vs. the money I had saved in the bank. 1- U79 AM/FM Stereo. $189.16 2- L48 350 with a 4-barrel carb. $37.50 3- ZJ7 Rally wheels $32.52 4- P-90 G70x15 WSW tires. $39.01 5- A90 the electric trunk opener $11.67 6- NK4 4 spoke sport steering wheel $15.80 7- M38 Automatic transmission $179.60 8- N40 Power steering $91.70 9- AK1 Deluxe seat belts & shoulder harness $15.30 Options like a vinyl top and A/C put the price over what I had saved, so who needed them. Picking the color was easy, “Tuxedo Black” RPO No.19-19, Acrylic Code: WA-848, DuPont Code: 926-96459 Lacquer. I ordered the car, and it was built in Oshawa, On. Canada 27 Apr 1971. I waited what seemed like forever and then it arrived, May 12,1971. I drove my dad’s 66 Oldsmobile 98 to Bill Fox Chevrolet and spotted my Monte Carlo in the side lot. Running over to check out my new ride, I noticed a dent in the front of the hood below the hood emblem and then two dents on the roof. I was devastated and left for home since they were already closed. I called my salesman the next day and discovered they couldn’t repair the car for two weeks and I couldn’t wait so I told him I would take it and bring it back for the repairs. I took delivery Friday May 14th, 1971, after paying a total of $3,734.00

I got these Decals from Jim Osborn Oct 1983 for my 71 350 4bbl. I did send them a scan of my radiator decal because they did NOT have one for my car. They copied it and sent several to me for free.
