Who Here Owns The Earliest and Latest Monte of Each Year and Each Plant
stangeba replied to Rob Peters's topic in Non-Tech
My 71 Monte Carlo was built at Oshawa, On. Canada, 27 Apr 1971. It arrived at Bill Fox Chevrolet, in Rochester, Michigan, 12 May,1971. I drove it home 14 May, 1971. -
The EXCEL sheet has 9 different tabs, one tab for each for the different years and the last one they are all combined. I have so many EXCEL sheets on my PC, you wouldn't believe it..........

It is gone, sorry.

2 Jan 2023 This is a link to a spreadsheet I made (In GOOGLE SHEETS) with a list of old paint color standards I got when the Dupont automotive paint lab closed about 16 years ago. These are painted 4" x 6" aluminum panels with the paint code and Dupont color name on the back of each one. I thought it may be of interest to some of you. Deleted, not working.

Rob Peters No idea at all what that is about. Perhaps the company is closed because of the injury.

I'm still all stock but I thought about this modification several times: https://www.davessmallbodyheis.com/ Or this: My Brothers old 1963 Triumph TR-3B, now owned by his son, went through an entire frame off restoration about a year ago. One change was he had Pertronix added to the dist (and changed to (-) neg ground). He didn't drive it that much when it stopped running. Replaced the pertronix with a new one and it again stopped running soon after the repair. One possible cause, we found out, was he still was using solid copper spark plug wires. He found that is a NO NO! Hope it runs for a long time now with proper wires.

Steve Lavoie, You just reminded me of the gas that would run all over the driveway, in the hot summer, from my dad's 62 Pontiac Catalina. I would put a gas can under it to catch the runoff and use that for my mini bike that I made back in 67. GOOD TIMES!! Sorry, off subject....................

Thanks, good to know. (I did this to see what shade of blue I am) 😄 -
I like the 66 Chevy Impala Convertible!

Great idea! My good friend bought a 71 SS after he saw my 71 (non-SS) but sadly it was totaled when a dump truck ran a red light and hit him. He wasn't hurt, thank God.

Rear speaker wiring 1971 The three wire set coming down the fire wall through the grommets is for the rear speakers. Three wire you ask? Yes, Left, Right and ground. One more wire that follows these three, is for the electric trunk opener.

Cody, This is great, thanks! Shows the problem I had with my oem rectangular magnet on an angle but the replacement speaker was NOT!
-
I replaced mine years ago (1996) and the left (drivers side) speaker was tough to fit in. Sorry, don't remember what brand but I did have to cut some of the left bracket out so it would fit but then the speaker still was a bit too large so my dash pad it raised up some and the speaker magnet is touching (or very close to) the back of the cluster.

Rochester Carburetor Rebuild Service Recommendations
stangeba replied to McCall72's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
I had mine rebuilt in 1993 at The Carburetor Shop in Ontario, Ca. Total was $186.91. The primary shaft bushings were badly worn, you could wiggle the shaft all over! http://www.customcarbs.com/ -
I replaced mine years ago when the mirror got all spotty. The replacement is a bit smaller.

I still think "Finding your old car" would make a great TV show! I was interviewed years ago from a production co. in England (I think) about a possible new show where they would find your old car. I discussed my wifes 73 Cougar that was stolen. The show never took off. Probably too much work to find a very small percentage of old cars. Old web site (Not working anymore?) https://the-lost-car-registry.com/

Looking at the great pictures of the monte restoration, made me wish they had a show like "Graveyard Cars", with less attempt at humor, that only restored Chevrolet cars. I do like keeping it stock and perfect!

Back in 1971 I built an AMC (I think) 71 Monte model and I still have it along with my 71 Camaro (because I was going to buy a Camaro but got the Monte instead)
