  1. Oh!! yes the driveshaft I forgot about that. Now is it possable to use two long bolts on the top two holes of the transmission and slide the transmission back on them? will that give you enough room do the converter swap? Or is it necessary to remove the transmissiom completly?
  2. I am in the planning stage of changing my torque converter. So in order to pull the transmission, the following things need to be done. Pull the shifter cable, disconnect the lines to the radiator, remove all the blots to the block and move all the bolts on the cross member. Is there anything else that I should know about? Also does the converter bolt to the flywheel?
  3. Thanks Lloyd I will keep that in mind. I was planning on changing the rods and springs, I will make sue that all components work with each other.
  4. KJ I was a little concerned about the battery when I was doing the last 2 cylinders. I think the key is the 4-5 compression strokes. It made a big difference in the second test.
  5. Thanks everyone for your help. I learned something new, more question to follow when I begin to put in the new cam.
  6. Cool!! I have my eye on the Comp high energy 260 or 265 cam. Would that be a good mild upgrade? or do I need to go bigger?
  7. back to the numbers. Do you think it will be safe to change the cam, lifters and springs? I am trying to get a little more HP.
  8. Sam, thanks for clearing things up for me. Scott thats the best I could describe the sound when cranking. I Told you guy I was a rookie!
  9. I ran the test again only this time with all plugs removed , full throttle, engine cold, and I gave at least 5 puffs for each cylinder. The results were much better. 1=165psi, 3=160 psi, 5=160psi, 7=160psi, 2=170psi, 4=165psi, 6=170 psi and 8=160psi. The first test was done by pulling one plug at a time, no throttle, and one or two puff's.
  10. This is all good information. With these numbers do you think it would be ok to do a cam, lifter and spring change? or should I have a total rebuild done?
  11. Should I try it again with the throttle opened to see if there is a difference? Or should I call it all good? One more thing, will this test give me any indication how solid the motor is?
  12. Ok! Let me start by saying that I am a rookie when it comes to the internal parts if the engine. The other day I was asked if I had ever done a compression on my stock 350. Today I decided to do one and came up with these numbers 1=135psi, 3=120psi, 5=120psi, 7=110psi, 2=110psi, 4=120psi, 6=110 psi and 8=135psi. So do these numbers mean to tell me anything?
  13. Thanks and sorry for highjacking our post.
  14. Exctely how much of the filler is seen when everything is bolted up? I am having hard time finding this part. But when I do I'll know what color it will be thanks to this post.
  15. ho BigJim I'll give that a try. I wasn't sure if getting them wet would mess them up. thanks
  16. problem resloved! paint gasket does have a thickened edege. Thanks for everyones help.
  17. WOW that might be the root cause of my problem! I didn't even think of looking at the paint gasket. I just slapped it on and bolted it down. Now I have to prepare my arm to get scratch up and remove the mirror.
  18. The car is a 70. The mirror is a black plastic. Specifically what type of mothers polish did you use?
  19. I wonder why my mirror is so close to the window. When I bought the car it had plastic bullet type mirrors, I think they are aftermarket. I like the look of the chrome ones but if I can't roll the window down, I might have to go back the plastic ones. As for the markers is there a way take them apart and clean them up?
  20. I was kind of suprised when I turned the lights on and all I saw was this little red sopt. Any idea what the rest of the marker is used for?
  21. I just installed a remote mirror and it appears to be to close to the window 1/4" or less is this correct? Second question is for the marker lights. When lights are on is the entire marker lit up of just one end of it?
  22. this pic was before i did the third stretch and glue.
  23. I went to a local upholstery and they gave me some contact cement so far it is holding up. I will post pics soon.
