  1. Not sure what you're implying, but I spent two solid hours on Saturday sitting with Mr. Google hunting for references on the Interwebs for this info. Ran across all kinds of rebuild instructions with the setup specs with this measurement and that, but nothing with the jet and rod info. Yes, I posted in a FB group this morning looking for suggestions, but I did my own research and just didn't have the magic touch.
  2. @jft69z--Yes! I hunted for two solid hours for this info. Thanks for the reference!
  3. I have a '72 with the 350 4-bbl and auto trans--stock restored. I'm rebuilding the QuadraJet carb which I believe is original (or at least date correct)--number 7042202. I cannot find a reference to confirm what jets and metering rods (primary and secondary) are correct for this carb (at least what the factory put in it). Does anyone have a reference with that info or can you point me to a website that has it? TIA!
  4. Thanks to all who replied. Sounds like this is operating properly on my car. Now it's time to set up the proper idle speed with this thing energized.
  5. I posted recently about an A/C clutch problem which the geniuses here helped to solve. Now there is another gremlin. When I bought the car ('72), the fast idle solenoid was inop--dead. Just got a replacement, installed it and plugged in the connector and 'click'--the plunger pushed out. This was with the A/C control in the off position. No matter what function is selected, that solenoid is receiving power. Is this supposed to be on only when the A/C clutch is on or is this an anti-dieseling solenoid? If it's only supposed to be on with the clutch, any recommendations where to look to see why it's getting constant power? Thanks in advance.
  6. Perfect! Thanks for that picture. I guess I need to get my hands on the right wiring diagrams. And thanks to Leghome for letting me know where to get the part. Off to NAPA to get a thermal limiter. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, Topless72 for the quick response! Curious that the thermal limit switch and the super heat cutout switch don't appear on the wiring diagram. Would be very curious to see a schematic of that cutout switch. Where can a guy get his hands on the limit switch?
  8. New member and new owner of a restored '72. Went to turn on the A/C and found that the clutch wouldn't close. A quick inspection found that the typical two-wire clutch connector on the compressor housing routes to a connector that is clipped to the vapor lines on the LH fenderwell. This connector has three wires: one to the clutch; one to the temp switch on the "suitcase" on the RH side of the firewall; and a black wire to the back of the compressor. (click the links below to open the two pictures) My two questions are 1) what does this three-wire connector plug in to? I cannot find any matching connector from any portion of the harness underhood. 2) what in the world is that black wire connected at the back of the compressor for? With the key off, there is no continuity to ground. With the key on, there is no voltage between that wire and ground. Any help is much appreciated
