  1. Ok, I just ran into a minor problem. As you can tell from the pictures the clutch/brake assembly has a "lip" right where it bolts up to the dash (where the 9/16" steering column nuts go) so I had to cut the new one to match. No big deal, just a little bump in the road to my quest of getting my 4 spd. in this week. (i'm off this week if you were wondering) So now if I could only figure out the place to drill for the clutch rod to Z-bar.......... it's dimple hunting time i guess.. 2. I have one week to install my 4 spd. manual. I have removed the automatic brake pedal and braket that holds it that goes through the firewall to the master cylinder. It is now completely out and I am about to install the clutch/brake pedal assembly. what i need to know is where does the rod that goes to the cluth pedal go through the firewall??? I do not see a hole for it, do I need to drill a hole, and if so Where?
  3. hey chris. the transmission includes the longer z bar because the guy i bought it from was planning to put it in a monte. Where can i get a flywheel for a REASONABLE price? Everytime I call a local autozone or chain store like that, they tell me they do not carry manual transmission parts. I'm sure I'll have more questions when i get the thing home. ------------------ "Give me performance or give me death" Patrick Henry
  4. the trans came out of a 68 or 69 chevelle and it comes complete with the entire tranny with bellhousing, z-bar, shifter with knob and everything.... and its a great price 250.00 for it and it is confirmed that it is a good strong running tranny. Its a borg-warner 4 spd and its from the early 60's.. I think some of the problems I am worried about is that I simply do not know anything about hooking the clutch pedal to the tranny. also i'm not sure if my 350auto flywheel will work with this manual 4spd. any of you guys know? ------------------ "Give me performance or give me death" Patrick Henry
  5. Well, yesterday evening and I started and this morning i finished up changing the filter and fluid on the transmission on my 72 project. Still will not catch in drive. slips and slips. I was hoping the tranny was still good so that I could sell it for a decent price. I'm getting a 4-spd manual for it in just a couple of weeks from dan felker. Anyone want a 350auto that needs rebuild? ------------------ "Give me performance or give me death" Patrick Henry
  6. Hi vinny, the correct color is black, I would recommend a gloss black but use a premium spray if you're going to use spray paint. ------------------ "Give me performance or give me death" Patrick Henry
  7. oh yeah i forgot to put in my original post that the fluid level is fine. ps. i want a 4 spd. manual. i wish one would drop out of the sky
  8. my 72 sits out in the back yard. i drive it around the yard about once a week. it has NO BRAKES. anyway, the other day i noticed that the tranny is slipping. this got worse today when i tried to drive it around the yard i had to go backwards HAHA, so i can feel the car shift into drive but it wont catch and revs up. my question is, how can the transmission be perfect and then just die just by sitting in the yard and driving around the yard once a week. anybody want to sell me a 4 spd. manual around SC?
  9. yeah rob, i like the plain janes much better than the color keyed ones. They came on all three years 70-72. does anyone know what other car these might have came on?
  10. Rob, I know they were cheap and looked like they were in excellent condition. But i figured "what would be the chances of me finding 2 more out of a set in that good of condition, so i passed on it, and am still hunting. I'm not going to spend but about 30 bucks when i do find them. Lets face it, people threw these hubcaps away, and are not very desirable, and thats why i think they're hard to find.
  11. I looked in our county tax maps to see who owned the property. I found out, and found his name in the phone book. He told me he would call me back to set up a time to meet there and sell me the old stuff. I have never heard from him since. I should probably call him back. I don't remember seeing any Monte Carlo hubcaps, but there were many boxes there that I could see through the old abandoned buildings window. the years of NOS wheel covers i saw ranges from about 66-73
  12. Aren't these still available as reproductions? Has anyone ever bought one? How reliable are they? My 70 Monte is all original appearance except battery, floormats, trunkmat, exhaust, and wheel/tire. I am considering making it COMPLETELY all original exept wheel tire and that is corvette rally. I am not sure what wheel my monte came with from factory, but when I got it in 1985 from my uncle, it had 7" rallys. I am considering getting some original style full wheel covers (not the deluxe painted kind) and some white wall tires, but they will not go on the car, but instead sit in the corner of my garage in case i want them someday.
