If I remember right look for a manual one out of a S10, at least that is what I used in my '84 Olds Cutlass when we made it a drag only car.

check the float level in the carb. might be stuck. just a thought.

the GM unit will do fine, i have 2 of them in my montes. a 496 and a 427 with 10:1 and 13:1 compression. easier to replace as you can get them locally.

So this "mini-starter" works the same as other starters out there? It just seems low in price compared to OPGI's and others.
i've spent $200 for a "power-master" starter, and this "mini-starter" works the same as my power-master for 1/3 the price. i have 2 starters from that ebay guy, 1 in each monte, a 10:1-427bbc and a 13:1 496bbc.

and this site right here shows an alternator conversion but from what I can tell from the original diagram the jumper wire goes to the opposite post what do you guys think
if you look close, it is the same terminal on this site as the one Sam showed you. make sure you're looking at the alternator correctly.

on the monte i change them before i go to the track and leave them in for the weekend if there were no issues. on the camaro, we change plugs after each run to read what's going on in the cylinders. 1400hp plus 400hp shot of nitrous, need to know what the engine is doing.

if you don't care about appearance then get one of these starter
save yourself some headache. turns over my 13:1 compression 496 no problem. works for both SBC and BBC. They also came on 90'S pick up trucks.

the rear end on the truck might have a different shock mounting points. usally one in the front and one in the back. also most truck rear ends are leaf springs not coil. by the time you cut/weld put new perch on that rear end, might be cheaper to put in new gears and a posi in your old one.

what cam are you running? as stated solid lifter/ cam will make noise, hydro- cam should not, if you adjust them correctly, should not make any noise unless the rockers themselves are bad.

also:
Adding preload to the suspension using the ARB involves lengthening or shortening one of the downlinks and is usually done with the Passenger downlink. Adding preload can correct a car if it does not launch straight and I prefer not to add any preload unless necessary. Some people prefer to add 1/2 turn making the passenger downlink longer "just in case" but I do not like preload unless I know it is needed.
Lengthening the Passenger downlink will turn the car Left.
Shortening the Passenger downlink will turn the car Right.

you can disconnect them to see which one the fluid comes out, that's your feed line. it's messy. or leave them connected, run the car for a few minutes you can feel the lines, 1 should be warm/ hot. the other cooler. the hot is the feed, cooler is the return.

if you don't like the rubber/nylon lines. you can use the aluminum line that summit and jegs sells. it is a lot easier then the steel line.

one motor went into the 72 the other one is on the stand and getting put together. hope to have 1 done by the end of the month.

side note, what do I use for gear lube on the manual box?
