rodney.
before installing the converter, take it to a tranny shop you trust and have them go over it make sure it is good to go.
piece of mind. just my 2cents

rodney.
the outside diameter is fine. its the inner diameter you need to worry about. if the stock springs has the dampener, you're good to go. if not the dampner will not seat correctly on the retainer and you will have problem. as far as the metal, it will handle the new springs no problem.
thanh
Rodney.
was the stock retainer for a single spring or dual springs? single spring retainer will not work with dual or triple springs because they don't have the inside spring locators. but dual or triple springs retainer will work with single springs, as long as you check to make sure you have enough clearance between the retainer and the valve guide/ seal. and they are the same diameter.
hope that helps.

thanks for the compliment.
the suspension is mostly stock, front end has drag race shocks, small block springs, tires are bfgoodrich 205/70/15.
rear has lower lift bars, heavy duty springs, stock upper control arms, tires are hoosier 295/50/15.

it's a myth. the less resistance the better. if so every body would run muffler at the track for the back pressure/ resistance.
and the 2.5" is fine, that's what i have on mine with the 496, the exhaust comes of when i get to the track anyway.

Great job. funny- we lost to our buddy in the final a couple weeks ago by the same margin. .0005 of a second. works out to be around 3/4-1 inch at our speed. and we were chasing him down also. you'll get him next time.
thanh
I agree with Mike.
but you can run those springs. it is very close to the recommended springs pressure, I did not look at the dimensions of the springs, but if they are the same, should be no problem.
thanh
yes they can, the idea has been around a long time. go look under a 1997 chevy suburban(my personal experience) there are other vehicles that came from factory with it.

Rodney.
unless it has been modified in some ways, a typical 12" converter is between 1700rpm to 2100rpm, if you're lucky it might flash to 2400 behind a stout torqy motor.
thanh
i'm getting the rear body roll kit, any one have experience with either one of these kits? I know Mike G. has one of these. any feed back would be Appreciated.
also besides the $100.00 price difference. anything else different?.

Thanks

ah, its round and has 3 ears and a pipe looking thing to slide into the tranny . kidding aside. if there are no parts numbers or even if there is and no manufacture's name, best bet is to take it to a tranny shop, they might be able to cross reference and tell you what it is.
what size is it, might guess the stall range by the size of converter.
thanh
Bullet cam here too. Tim will get you on the right track, tell him you want to run the everwear or melonized gear, he will grind your cam on the appropriate metal, should be around $450.00 to do that the last time we had it done.
thanh
Mike.
best bet is to check with the cam maker, the melonized or everwear will not work with some billet or 8260 steel core cam.
the bronze works with everything BUT they wear out fast, i change mine every year.
thanh
i still run the stock rubber mounts, they lasted for 10 years and over a couple hundreds of mid to low 11 seconds 1/4 mile passes. but i'm going to go with the poly if/when the stocks one goes.
