  1. Hi Jeff, Welcome aboard the boards.  If you have been a lurker for awhile you know we LOVE PICTURES.  Let us see what you have, even the wrecked pictures and the progress you have made since.  So sorry to hear about the wreck.  We do hope you like it here on the club website and decide to become a full fledged Dues Paying Member of the club.

  2. I was so sorry to hear this yesterday when CK called me.  After CK notified me of this yesterday, I sent a sympathy card to Dianne and family, from the club.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

There’s a 5 year member badge on the grille the engine bay photo.

We used to have a member from South Carolina that had a Cranberry Rad SS454 who lived in South Carolina.  He has not been a member for awhile.

Just to clarify, there are possibly several other members named Dennis here (myself included)  I've been an active participant on the forums for the past 15 years and have never used a dancing banana emoji so that may be an identity clue for you. 😉

We try to reserve the use of dancing banana's :yay: to honor our Dennis members, one of them in particular.  You have now earned a few of your own.

Ok, in honor of Steve, we are at 69 days and a wake-up  before our members start arriving in Carlisle.  Wow time is flying by.  Not much time to waste wrapping up your Monte projects.

I’ve never seen that.  School me. I need more pictures. Where exactly does it go.

Dennis, it mounts on the air conditioning plenum, between the planum and the passenger side valve cover but slightly higher than the valve cover.  It is either black plastic on a 71 and 72 but looks like a sealed coffee can on most 70 Monte's.  I will see if I can find one in a picture.

I will ck my parts cars for you but they are 71 and 72 Tom. Not sure they will be there.  I will let you know tomm!!

I agree Willie.  I don't know if I have seen many, if any 71/72's with that type of vacuum cannisters.  I have seen some 70 Monte's with the plastic ones.  I think it is kind of funny when I look at mine.  It almost looks like a they had some coffee cans laying around and decided to do an original "recycle" alteration.

  8. Dennis,

Thanks for posting the pictures.  As I said in our email exchanges, you need to hook up with some of our members down your way and bring her to Carlisle for our Eastern Meet.  You were concerned about your car not being a show car... We don't care if it is a show car, it is a go car.  Besides, it is not all about the cars, it is about the people you will meet and the in person tips you could get from our members in attendance.

Dennis, be careful of that other Dennis down your way.  I am by no means saying the other Dennis is trouble, just be careful, he tends to leave a trail of banana peels behind.

    Hey Rob...

IF memory serves, I believe that the rapidfire plugs were only compatible with H.E.I. type ignitions.

Did try them in my 3.8 L Buick and they weren't bad, better than some of those multi tipped ones.

    Scott.

I can not find anything that says they are only compatible with HEI type ignitions.  Anyway, I now have the plugs I wanted from the get-go, now to find a chance to install them.

  10. Patsy gave me a set of AC Delco Rapid Fire spark plugs for Christmas for my Monte.  I just got a chance to install them a couple days ago.  When I started the car it really ran horribly.  It was missing on at least two cylinders.

Today I headed up to the storage garage and installed my old plugs that I had removed to install the AC Delco Rapidfire plugs.  I was surprised when, no questions asked, when Orielly's Auto Parts was willing to give me a full refund.  I then bought the AC Delco R45 plugs.  I didn't get a chance to install them yet.

When I looked at the Rapidfire plugs I removed, it looked like two of them never fired while 6 of them you could tell were not a problem.  I know it was not the plug wires because it ran fine when I put it away last year and after reinstalling my old plugs it ran good again.

I do not recommend the Rapidfire plugs.  The first thing I noticed about them was from the base that seats in the head, the exposed porcelain portion and electrode were longer than the original R45 plugs that were in there before.

Sounds to me like it’s the one, as Rob said that mounts to the.AC plenum and not that carbon canister mounted on the drivers side next to the radiator.

That's what I thought but I just thought that was a vacuum storage and did not have anything to do with fuel fumes.

I think those fans and Dennis are all in the Fruit Family and a very "apeeling" group. Dennis, you don't have to be a Basketball fan to have some "skin" in the game.
