  1. The radiator and I got from napa about five years ago. It’s pretty thin not sure what size. Fan shroud is good and in place. Car never overheated with old motor (1977 Chevy 350-with original stock Turbo 350) I drove the car to a car show in 110 degree heat about 60 miles away with out a thermostat and it ran 170-180 degrees which was ok. I have a JEGS overflow 1 pint recirculating catch can. Oil and antifreeze are clean as the day I put it in. So I think a headgasket is out of the question. Wayne
  2. I got a new temp gauge from JEGS ( JEGS Brand) No fan clutch
  3. My monte has been overheating off and on ever since I have put the new motor & transmission in this past June. (350 original motor & 350 transmission with 1800-2000 stall converter. I have a 160 Degree thermostat in it and it runs at that to start out at. Then it will start inching up on the temp gauge. I seem to notice that when I climb a hill it will start going up. It seems it over heats most of the time on the freeway. It will do it in town sometimes, and other times it is ok. Tonight I was coming home on the freeway and it was running between 210 & 220 degrees, and it is 40 degrees outside so you would not think to would be running that hot. The radiator is about five years old. I have changed the thermostat twice. If I leave the thermostat out it will not overheat it runs at about 170. When the car gets up to 220 I pull over and stop, turn it off, let it sit for five minutes, start it up and it will go back normal. Thoughts or questions?
  4. the gauge goes way past full. When I shake the wire that goes through the trunk floor (under the car) it will go back to normal. It is the wire that goes to the sending unit. Do I need a new sending unit?
  5. I checked the plug and no change. Then I shook the wire that comes through the trunk floor under the car and it came back! Does that wire go through the sending unit, and come out the other side of the tank to mount by the axle? Wayne
  6. So my fuel gauge is in the 3 o clock position. It will come back to working from time to time. I tried cleaning the ground wire that comes out from the top of the tank and it did not help. Is my sending unit shot? Wire broke in the harness somewhere? I see they make new ones, how do I tell if my tank is vented or not? (it is a 70) Give me your thoughts...... Wayne
  7. 350 is now a 355....I have a 1700 RPM stall coverter in it now and I can't get used to it. Was thinking about going back to stock.....
  8. I have an easy question! What RPM range is a stock torque converter? It is a Turbo 350. Thanks! Wayne
  9. I just use it as a driver.....would like to take it to the track once or twice for fun. Also, do a lot of freeway driving.
  10. Alright so I finally got under my car and decoded the rear axle and it turns out I have 256 gears. Should I switch to 273 gears? My car has a turbo 350 and It looks like I am going to have a 355 engine; imput please.......... Thanks, Wayne
