  1. There's a guy in Florida that's very helpful and knowledgeable with the Holley EFI stuff. I've bought some stuff from him in the past, not full systems though. They have a  lot of custom harnesses for the EFI stuff too.

Just got an email today in fact from him about a lot of stuff going on with Holley.

.May be worth calling him up, pick his brain.

  2. Hey Nick,

    Welcome back!

Seems like you have a pretty good path carved out. That compression ratio is pretty high though, possibly even with the planned open chamber heads. Ask questions from the cylinder head manufacturers that you contact.

Lot of people have had trouble with the Sniper systems, as seen on the Holley tech forums that I used to frequent quite often (haven't been there in the last couple months). Could be due to the sheer volume they sold, so problems are in proportion to that? They came out with a Sniper 2 that was supposed to address the issues, but I haven't followed to see if they are better. May want to join the Holley tech forums, do some research first.

I have the Holley Terminator Stealth EFI, with Aeromotive fuel tank/pump and have had good luck with that stuff. I also have the ECM control the ignition timing as well. Not sure if the Sniper systems will support that. Something to look into as well perhaps. Now's the time to possibly dump the Sniper, before you get too far. That being said, ask ten people, get ten different answers. FWIW, I have the Terminator stealth system on my Monte & Z/28, very happy.

Are you planning to run tail pipes? those make a big difference in noise/sound quality. I have 3"  Flowmaster Series 40 Delta Flows on my Camaro with big roller cam, etc. They sound pretty good thru 3" tailpipes. I have the Super 44's on my Monte at 2.5" all the way out back That system sounds good, but a much different engine (454 LS6) than the Camaro. I did try the Super 44's on the Camaro, but ended up with the 40 Deltas on that.

Some people here (Tom F) hate the flowmasters, but I also tried his preferred mufflers, and didn't like them, so it's a subjective choice.

Post some pics too, we like a lot of them.

I got two cuts in so far. But you’d never be able to tell. I don’t see another coming anytime soon as we are in the ending stage of 3 plus inches of rain.

One cut done, same here though, couldn't tell by the way it grew. Rain last two days, all this weekend, a couple sunny days, then all rain. There were already deep water spots in various parts of the yard, not even going near that mess.

Is there a better place to carry on this thread than the New Members Area? Or just keep going with it?

It's fine here, no worries.  We don't tend to over scrutinize the topics like some forums. We may move something to an appropriate thread if it's a sale item, or car cruise location, etc.

In this case, as long as you're getting answers to your questions,  it's all good.

As you'll see, we tend to get side tracked a lot too. Usually it's Dennis...:yay:

  5. Here's the RPO codes for that ATS. Wasn't a bad vehicle, had a turbo 4 cylinder though. Looks like owner had it serviced at dealer regularly, no major issues except a radio replacement and a few field action recalls. Initial delivery to Crestmont Cadillac,  Beechwood, Ohio

I'll start gathering schematics and electrical connector views in a couple days.

  8. Apparently Dennis' kids were at the Denver arena the other night, against the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team. Bandits won, last home game this coming Saturday.

    Ok, 'Lucy'  🤣

The car is stuck in collision shop he!!

On a side note, looks like GM is doing some type of website maintenance this weekend.  Can't get into the site to do any research.

I’d be willing to make the trip to Carlisle if someone had a dash for sale.

We have one hotel room left at Carlisle, according to Rob. Sounds like a win/win situation!

What you don't have 10 in stock Dennis???  lol

I was sort of thinking something along those lines. If someone has one and brings it to Carlisle, it would save the shipping costs and possible damage.

  12. I was looking into it a few years back, so I could cut a hole for a DIN sized stereo unit & not chop up my OEM dash. Most of the reviews I saw weren't too good as far as fit, so I ended up getting a different stereo that fit in the original dash. I figured, for the money they were asking, it wasn't worth the drama.

I ended up getting an old, OEM dash from a member here (Willie), that was just perfect for what I need, if I decide to replace the radio down the road.

Ive heard both sides about this and I'm NO mechanic......But was told you can add R134A to the old system. I'm sure someone more knowledgaeable will comment/update this scenario.

DISCLAIMER....... maybe I was told this because I don't run my a/c, I just wanted to test the system after the engine swap to make sure everything was working properly. I bought the adapter kit, charged and tested the system, all ok. Haven't used it since. I removed the fittings to keep the stock look 😮

You can't simply mix R12 and R134a refrigerant. So, don't add refrigerant without knowing what is in the system, or if it has been converted. There are refrigerant identification analyzers out there, but they're very expensive. About as expensive as replacing your entire A/C system because you didn't service it properly.

Besides the fact the refrigerants have different chemical properties, the lubricants are entirely different and could also lead to destruction and expensive repairs.

Here's some info, straight from a refrigerant manufacturer. Look at the parts regarding compatibility of refrigerants, lubricants, and seal materials. Doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture.
