OPGI had one, bought lots of stuff from them, dont know why I didnt look there first. $2.50 and $9 to ship it🙄

Installing a new wiper motor, need a new rubber firewall gasket. Almost everthing I'm finding is a big foam gasket for the other style motor. Found one on "the parts place" website for only $5 but they have a $20 minimum order. Anybody have other options, otherwise I'll have to figure out what else I need to buy

Now Im trying to diagnose my wipers not working. Replaced the fuse, continuity across the fuse panel. There is a 2 prong connector and a 1 prong connector on the motor, have 12 volts on the 2 prong with the switch on or off. Whats my next step?

It is a 70 SS454, what is the purpose of the solinoid? There is a screw that sets the idle speed, which I have adjusted, it runs good, idles good, was there ever one? do I need one? I meant to say provisional not provincial

The brown and white wire was hot with the key on so I taped it off, thanks for that. It is a SS454 and I dont see a solinoid, maybe the wire is provincial? Sidenote- I double checked the wiper fuse and its broke on the end, not blown in the middle like you would expect so hopefully a new fuse will fix it.

Where is this idle stop solenoid you speak of?

Been a spectator at this show 5 years now, there is a gold 70 SS454 I've seen before, this year I talked to the owner. Little old lady who bought it brand new in the fall of '69. Super nice, all original. It had a "454" emblem right below "Monte Carlo" under the trunk lid. She said it was always there, not all of them had that. I've never seen this badge on a 70, Anyone else?

So I did a little research and sounds like that is a weep hole in the yoke. There is an o-ring on the output shaft that rides in the smooth area of the yoke right before the splines. Seems like the fluid level sits pretty high to come out that weep hole when just sitting.

Good news, got my 2nd reman pump, done by Lares, it fits good, put a couple washers behind brackets to line up pulleys better( thats what started this whole fiasco) drove 30 miles, no leaks, belt stayed on, I;m happy. Now just figure out where my tranny is leaking. Replaced all seals last year when I had it out. Gotta love it.

The first one was a Cardone rebuild. I found one from rock auto that has the same narrow reservoir like my original. Its a "Lares" brand, hopefully I'll have better luck with this one.

Still fighting this. Cleaned everything up, set the reman pump in place, but did not fully install, and filled it with fluid. It sat all week and did not leak. Today I actually mounted it, tightened the bolts and it started to leak. It leaks on the face where there is a big O-ring between the pump and reservoir. It didnt look like it was tweeked but I dont know anymore. The original had a narrow neck reservoir like MCfan picture, and the reman has a wide reservoir which makes it hard to get the belt on. Any parts supplier I look at has the wide reservoir fitting this application not the narrow. I dont know where to go from here.

I have the bolts and installed them, they seemed to tighten fine. I'm just trying to verify they need o-rings, none came off with the bolts. I'm not 100% sure this is where its leaking as I haven't taken it all apart again, just trying to get info before I dig into it again. Found some stock photos of what I'm talking about. Thanks for the replies

I got a rebuilt unit to my door for $50. Installed it today, the reservoir is a different shape, not narrow at the neck, and I was barely able to get the belt on. There were two plastic plugs on the back side, Instructions said to take bolts off original and put on rebuilt, one is a mounting stud. It leaks badly. Buddy said there should be o-rings on those back side bolts? didnt come with any, turned the old in for core charge. Any body with experience with this?

My car has all the parts, but is currently not operational. How do these pumps work? Its got a vacuum line hooked up to it.

Been working 7 days a week,, finally got back to this. Took the pump and bracket off, there is a spacer on one mount, the bottom bolt was ground shorter for some reason?? and the reservoir has a big dent in it, so obviously this has been messed with at some point. Looks like its leaking so Im gonna get a new pump and shim as needed to get it to line up.
-
Yes my straight edge is on the fwd edge of the pump pulley so in my mind it should line up with the fwd edge of the middle crank pulley (its a triple pulley) , not into the groove. The alternator and a/c belts line up just fine.
-
As I got my Monte running last spring, I replaced all belts and hoses. Twice it has thrown the power steering belt. Looking at it, it doesn't line up right. I put a straight edge on the pump pulley and it goes to nearly the middle of the crank pulley. Looks like the pump sits in a bracket, can this be shimmed? Any thoughts?

Just curious, on the spec sheet it says 454 Engine with bright accents. What are the bright accents?

Finally got the timing set, did a little tweaking on the quadrajet, and for the first time I'm burning rubber. The radiator has some scale in it, I assume it is the original. Are these copper/brass not aluminum? It looks blue under the paint. Can I clean this out at home or should I take it out and take it to a shop? 70 SS454 Thanks

I assume most people on here know this but if not, the year of your Monte is in Roman numerals on the top of the helmut. If you are old like me, you need your bifocals to see it.
