  1. It's here. It looks like the rear might need to be folded down at a 90 degree angle and trimmed. Just a guess at first sight.
  2. Thanks a lot for the pictures guys. My tail panel is rusted out so I'm sure some fabrication will need to be done. Also I'm keeping an eye out for a good tail panel. The joys of midwest rust. I have no doubt I'll be back with questions when I get the floor.
  3. Thats what I have found out. The sites that listed it for a Monte also said something about modifying the rear. I ordered the AMD 71-72 Chevelle piece. Jegs had a special $99 truck freight deal. I have the body off the frame so I was hoping to get it replaced from the bottom, but who knows. Studying the pictures, it looks identical until the tail panel. Thanks for the replies.
  4. Im going to buy a complete floor pan for the trunk of the Monte. From what I can tell it looks like Goodmark and Dynacorn both make a one piece pan with braces and all. Does anyone have a preference? Any first hand experience? Fitment , metal thickness? Also now im seeing that AMD has a 71 -72 Chevelle floor that looks the same but doesnt list it as Monte compatible. Hmmm Thanks
  5. I'm using.023 wire and was hoping to at least weld 1 inch stitches at a time. But often times it doesn't want to strike an arc. Just pops and slobbers on itself. Then a little more voltage and it's too hot. I did some practice on scrap yesterday and maybe will have better luck.
  6. I've heard good things about the glue but never been around it. The panel is 90 percent welded in but my little Miller mig and I are not on good terms right now.
  7. Just thought I'd stop in to say, BUTT WELDING SHEET METAL ABSOLUTELY SUCKS..... That is all.
  8. Getting the firewall ready for the patch panel today. Ended up buying the bigger panel. The body mount was in worse shape than I thought, so I ordered one.
  9. I have friends that can help me get the sheet metal on the car, but the final body work and paint will have to go to someone with more skills than myself.
  10. Gotta have a bottle of motivation in the shop at all times.
  11. After the floor install, took it off the rotisserie. Then promptly cut it up and made a cart to set the body on. Cut the bracing out. Now going to start measuring to cut out the toe panel on the drivers side. Bought a patch panel for it. At least it looks more like a car with a floor in it. I'm trying to keep plugging away.
  12. I have finally got the floor pan in place and will be looking at a full trunk pan next. Does anyone have recommendations. I'm seeing a dynacorn and goodmark option. Anyone know which is the better option?
  13. It's in. Had a little trimming to do on the brackets below the quarter windows. Otherwise went in pretty good. I'm liking the AMD stuff so far. Still have some welding to do.
  14. Making some progress. Did gm pay per spot weld?
  15. Getting closer. Measuring for console and bucket seat mounts. The rear seat brackets, bucket seat brackets, and console bracket will need to be put on the new pan
  16. Still going to put braces across the doors too
  17. I've had a few parts cars over the years, but none of the tail panels were worth removing. When I'm ready I'll be asking around the group for leads on a good one.
  18. The AMD piece has all the braces included. Supposed to be a ready to go unit. I'll find out soon I guess. I've been eye balling some used tail panels on the internet. Seems about $500 or so is the going rate.
  19. I could have used patch panels but for the price of the one piece I figured it would probably be less work and I won't worry about it in a few years. The floor is supposed to be here Monday. Getting the dash out now. Then tack in some bracing. The floor isn't as bad as the back of the car. That tail panel will be fun I'm sure
  20. Made a couple modifications to the rotisserie and got the body turned on its side. Turns relatively easy for a homemade rig. Anyone here used the one piece floor from AMD? Any tips?
  21. The price of post lifts has really come down the last few years. I'd like to have one but not sure i can fit 2 cars in my garage if a 2 post is in there.
  22. Not sure if sarcasm comes through on here
  23. I know the centerline isn't where I want it. And if I can get a little rotation out of it that's fine, that's of secondary concern. I wanted it up to get to the floor pan and be mobile enough to roll to the side of the shop to get other cars in. So both of my main concerns are met with this setup. The R&D took minutes of design work and almost half a sheet of notebook paper to sketch this out. It's pretty high tech...
  24. Ceiling is around 9 1/2 feet. If it doesn't work out I've got a total of $50 invested. There are videos on YouTube of similar homemade jigs so I thought I'd give it a try.
