IMO. I would go through any existing hole that has a plug in it. The cluster your going with is not original to the car so why drill any more holes in a very clean firewall. If you were to go back to original you would than have an extra hole to plug. Like I said IMO.

Yes there is a distributor gasket. Also make sure distributor is tight. A lot of people leave them loose to adjust timing (guilty). Could also be rear intake gasket.

If original you have s screen on the sender in the tank and a filter in the carburetor where the fuel line bolts in

Above gas tank?

Wow the patience you must have. I would have paint everywhere and spent 3 days doing that and probably still launched it in the yard and ran over it with my tractor. And then have to fix the tractor. Well done

They did the same thing to me. On their web site they show body mount GM kits with
the GM number On them. I ordered a set but they sent crap mounts. I called them and complained and they said to send them back. I did. The next time I ordered I found out they blocked me out. Not very good customer service. Took 2 years in prison. Seemed to go away because they opened a eBay store my others. It went away. I still order from them because they have thing no one else has.
The ones I got had gm numbers on them. All the uppers were perfect but 8 of the lowers had the wrong number. So after I got the crappy response I did some P.I. Work and found that my number on the oe mount had been surperceded to the number they sent. So I kept them

Hi Joe...I actually pulled that photo online from a company called Konik's Klassiks (https://koniksklassiks.com/), they sell some MC restored trim. My actual pieces do look as good as the photo or better, but I took mine to Norm at Shine On Me http://shineonmetrim.com/info/contact_info.php (I live in Carlsbad, CA and he's up the road in San Clemente). He did my stainless steel that goes around the windshield and rear window and his work is amazing. He does work for guys sending in stuff from all over the USA. If you call him tell him Jon Prasuhn with the 72 Monte Carlo referred you.
Konick is a member and a very good guy to deal with. He sells tons of Monte parts not just trim. FYI.

Here is the Inline Tube part number. INL11097
They have a lot of little goodies for our cars.
Watch the body bushings. They say that they are factory correct they are not. I called them to explain and the answer was “it’s what we have for the Monte if you don’t like it send it back “. Nice customer service. Mine still had the oe number on them so real easy to verify.

I don’t know, the passenger of that one may have a different opinion. Looks like it didn’t work out for him so well.
I told you that it was a barn find. I didn’t say how long it was in the barn 🤪

Getting original parts can be a lot of work. Since I’m not loaded and don’t have the parts “in stock “(JK). This is what some of us poor people have to do to get them. Do second one first
