That sucks. I decided to roll the dice and went with BFGs on the ‘71 last year. With the exception of two or three very small spots on the lettering on one tire, the rest have been fine… for now. Time will tell…

Yup. Sure sounds like you got bamboozled. I’m guessing Borlace is a gypsy surname? At least it has ‘BORLA’ in it. As in the exhaust.

Welcome!! That’s a helluva inheritance gift!! She’s already cleaned up decent, look forward to more pix as you progress.

Welcome Steve! Being from Chicago I mistakenly read your location as Buffalo GROVE. Happy to hear you’ve found the FGMCC site. You’re gonna enjoy this group. And thank you for your service.

If the engine was changed. I am waiting to hear from him to check the number on the pad to verify because it was a numbers matching block. This had become quite an interesting plot and it thickens more.
While most here will be taken aback by the anomaly, I’m biting my tongue. In the meantime, this is a portrayal of me and Amy watching this event unfold…

Welcome Curtis! I don’t think I’ve seen a two-tone car with the halo trim until yours. Per your trim tag it shows:
Two Tone
25-10 Astro Blue with Classic White Top
25-28 Astro Blue with Fathom Blue Top
28-25 Fathom Blue with Astro Blue Top
34-10 Misty Turquoise with Classic White Top
55-10 Champagne Gold with Classic White Top
58-10 Autumn Gold with Classic White Top
63-10 Desert Sand with Classic White TopHere’s a link to the FGMCC thread about paint and top colors as put together by Canuck…

Might require some type of a crane/elevator system to get all the passengers loaded though....
I think I’d look damn good rolling in that. And no need for a crane to get in it. I’ll just pick people up and throw them in. I took the liberty of photo shopping myself next to it for reference...

Thanks Glen i checked mine and i didn't see anything either. So i am guessing they were in some kind of package also. We now know the rears are most likely dealer or after market items. But i was just wondering about the front console ones??
No worries, Willie. I wonder if they were just automatically installed when the car was optioned with the console.

Glen do me a solid and check your build sheet for either of the cars and see if those cups have a special code for them, as i cant find them in the codes for the Chevelle. Tkx
Willie,
I see nothing obvious on the ‘70s Build Sheet that would lead me to believe it appeared as a “code”. I’d ASSUME that if it did appear it might be logical to be located near the seatbelt boxes (#87 and #88). For what it’s worth, there ARE seven boxes missing on the BS, so I guess there’s always the possibility it may have populated one of those. The picture I have for the ‘71 is garbage… so blurry it resembles hieroglyphics. I’ll have to check that another time and get back to you.

Welcome Kevin!!!! A great group here always willing to help!!!! She looks pretty good to me as a starting point!!!!
Lyle if you are reading this, the console in Kevins car has the cups that i was talking about. The only ones i have seen.
First… welcome, Kevin! It’s a great group of people here, you will have no problem getting advice as you progress through your work.
Willie,
I’m late to the party on the cups you’re talking about. I saw the chatter about them in the other thread got distracted before I could respond. I didn’t think anything of them as both of my cars have them.
I purchased a new set for when I had the interior redone on the ‘70, but the shop that did the install didn’t attach them to the new console (maybe they didn’t want to drill holes into a brand new piece?). Never inquired with the trim shop and just left the belts on the floor when not in use for now.
Here’s a couple pics of the interior of the ‘70 as it arrived as well as a couple pictures of the cups in the ‘71.
When the better half rides with me I make her go seatbelt-less and I use the passenger side cups for my smokes and garage door opener 🤣😂

check out the switch by the gas pedal ,not sure what it is called but is tan ,plugger type ,that was happening on my car a while back replaced it all good now
Funny… I thought mine was bad (help me out here… “kickdown modul(ator)” ???) on the ‘70 a while back.
Turned out the Dynamat + new carpeting + existing carpeted floor mats = restricted gas pedal travel. Switching over to the original-type thin rubber mats cleared that right up.

No problem. I just posted another separate thread dedicated to just First Gens. Good stuff in that one also.

Had breakfast with my Dad and my second favorite mechanic yesterday. I’ve previously mentioned that Terry had owned a ‘71 SS that he sold many years ago, but he’s still finding various parts, memorabilia and literature etc.
Yesterday he gave me a few “Super Chevys” magazines from ‘84 and ‘85. Attached are some pix and Monte-related articles… can you find the two unicorns? 🤣😂 Hint: one’s “down under” and one’s pulling the front tires off the ground.
There’s a nice 2 page article on the ‘71 SS which appears on the cover of the July 1985 edition of Super Chevys “Chevy Show Place” Looks exactly like Dennis’, minus the bananas in the tailpipes
And I’m definitely curious… were some of the owners as listed 40 years ago ever FGMCC members? Are these folks still alive? Are any of the Montes still around under different ownership? Perhaps some of you senior FGMCC members might know of these folks and cars.
