  1. Registered for this show today, lady at the village hall said “tons of people have registered”.  I got one of the last remaining spots in one of the three (four?) lots registrants will be showing their cars in. Unless things go sideways for any particular reason, my Monte will see her first show as mine.

  2. For what it’s worth, I love the gold. I actually still have the picture from one of the ads of a 70 SS that I had looked into prior to scoring the one I own. The only reason I didn’t get this one was it was already sold when I called to inquire (everything happens for a reason, they say). There’s a lot to be said regarding originality.  But at the end of the day it is your baby, do with it what makes you happy.

Looks great and sounds good too. I was never a fan of welded on hangers. Welding them on the pipes always seems like it makes a weak spot. Clamp it.

Thanks Dtret. I didn’t have a choice as the car arrived with this exhaust, but I was also leaning toward a traditional hanger as the fix.  Don’t get me wrong… I really love the way she sounds, but you’re absolutely correct ... this mounting process obviously leaves the metal compromised.

Glen she looks GREAT!!  Glad you had a nice dinner also.    What did you use to spruce up the top?

Thanks Willie.  A coworker recommended this. Directions say to reapply every 3 to 5 weeks. That won’t be an issue because it went on nice and easy.  Did one small area at a time and rub/buffed it in with a clean microfiber towel. For the small strip below the back window I just sprayed some directly on the towel instead of spraying it on the vinyl.

  5. Spent four hours applying elbow grease to the Monte this afternoon in preparation for a nice drive to meet friends for dinner this evening.

Washed, tires bleached and dressed, vinyl top conditioned, windows cleaned, chrome polished and a final wipe with quick mist detailer... or so I thought.

I noticed the horizontal surfaces were rough to the touch. Broke out the clay bar and put two and two together... car must’ve been in close proximity to where the valve covers were painted (see the picture below - sure looks like Chevy Orange!).

Car looks terrific, rode awesome and got a ton of looks. But pulling into the garage I noticed the exhaust tone was different. Suspected a leak somewhere on the passenger side and sure enough I found it immediately. Easy enough fix, but it’s always somethin’...

PS - I had to share a quick video of the exhaust (pre-leak).

  6. Still haven’t reserved my spot (was waiting to see if my girl was gonna be out of the shop in time). Will take a ride to the village hall sometime this coming week to see what’s what. I’ll update accordingly. Worst case scenario, I’ll roll through the show with mama for beers and to look at cars even if I don’t show my car.

  7. Time flies. Most people don’t regularly think about how old their favorite bands/musicians are. I’ve been out of high school 33 years. High school is when I was introduced to a ton of great rock ‘n’ roll bands, ZZ Top one of them. And those boys looked old back then, LOL.

    RIP Dusty.

  8. Ryan,

    My deepest heartfelt condolences.

Like many, I grew up with and around dogs and losing one has got to be one of the worst things ever.

My avatar is my CPD partner Mongo. I spend more time with him than with my family, so it will be an especially painful goodbye when his time comes.

Don’t dwell on the immediate pain - this will pass with time. Rather, remember the 11+ years of good times and love that you gave him. No doubt he knew that you saved his life and he’ll be eagerly waiting you at Rainbow Bridge.

I may have. I’ve got so many parts. I try like heck to keep them organized but I may have misplaced that kit.

i got my original chrome out of the shop crawl space & I am WRONG!

this new chrome is the same as the original.

I will have to try again.

Pay no attention to the ignernt guy!

    Carry on! 😎

    Let me guess...

you had them upside down and backwards????

    😂😂😂

  10. Have you considered electric fans?  Mine kick on at 190 (using factory temp gauge) if AC is not being run.

AC on?  Fans run continuously. Drops the temperature back down to right around 165-ish in about a minute. I didn’t realize how much air those things pull through the radiator (not sure what CFM they’re rated for as they came with the vehicle and I haven’t looked that closely... yet).

Not to mention it’s fun to pop open the hood while it’s running and watching people jump back when those fans kick on... they startle almost everyone the first time they experience it
