Mine has the Fibre optic monitoring system , the dealer installed washer fluid monitor and I added a power trunk.
Got the fibre optic light on my washer fluid on mine as well.

As for the undercoating, I've used the Kleen-flo stuff. It's pretty easy to spray, is paintable, and doesn't harden like a rock. Mind you, heat from the engine might have an effect on that.

With a body like that, it'd probably be to hard to bend and pick up short people and pets..... Maybe if you bench pressed them up ???

Scott that's what i was thinking!! Even the step might be too high to get on to get in that car!!
Some sort of hydraulic lift/platform that comes out from under the car..... Then tucks away while driving.
Could also double as a jack system for tire changes.

Less than 1 season? That’s bad. Were you able to recoup your money through a warranty?
Nope.... By the time the snow had melted and I was able to see what had happened, It had been just over a year from the purchase date.

Took Montelishi out for her first run on the new Bilsteins..... I'd have to say I liked them.
I understand your point Mark, but after the KYB's failed in less than one season, I figured the extra $$$ was worth a try.

No need to worry about A/C in that !!!
Might require some type of a crane/elevator system to get all the passengers loaded though....

NP...
Get the yoke first and measure it. I made the mistake of ordering a UV for my diff. when I switched from an 8.2" to a 12 bolt. Found out they both use the same joint AFTER it arrived. Now I've got a joint I'll probably never use.

Hey Curtis... Welcome to the club.
Besides changing the transmission end yoke, you'll have to trim about 3" off the driveshaft as the th400 is about 24 1/2" long whereas the th350 is about 21 1/2"...
As to finding a yoke, there's a few members here that have been hoarding parts for years. I'm pretty sure someone's got what you're looking for.
Try looking in the "parts wanted/for sale" section.
Best of lick, Scott.

Scott, I have never heard that. I'm not sure what the difference in putting cruise control on an SS454 would make GM more liable than it would on a 350/402/400. It does not make any sense.

Hey Rob...
It was a explanation I got from an old Chevy guy years ago when we got talking about my T-Type not being available with a manual transmission. Basically we got into warranty/safety issues that the factory wouldn't install, and the conversation went from there.
He did say he worked at a G.M. dealership in the '70's..... And seeing as I was much younger then, I was just trying to respect my "elder".

They put them on a bunch of small block cars. They went 70 mph too. But I do believe, to some degree, that’s a legitimate concern.
Not that many big block "SS" cars would ever use cruise control...... You'd need a trailer to haul the extra gas tank along.
-
I've got those clips on the console of my '70. But none in the back seat.
-
As to the cruise control not being available on "SS" models, my understanding was that it was basically a warranty/safety issue.
Adding a factory installed unit made G.M. liable for and parts failures or accidents...... ie 70 mph in second gear can be hard on things, and 70 mph and not being able to decelerate can hurt as well. Remember, the cruise controls of the time weren't exactly reliable.
I found this out when I inquired as to why the Buick T-Type/G.N./G.N.X.'s weren't equipped with manual transmissions. The reasoning was that too many "novice" drivers would over rev and burn out the turbochargers (and all parts downwind), which, with the proper warranty, would have to be covered by G.M.
These rules are/were the motivation to get "dealer installed" parts..... And gave rise to such specialty dealers like Yenko Chevrolet, as well as many others.

The price seems about right. Congrats on the sale. If I had an auction like that close to me I would consider that as an option too for my 71 SS.
$62,000.00 USD...... That's about $85,000.00 CAN. Minus all the taxes....... About $75.00 CAN. take home.
Unless you know a good accountant.

Funny… I thought mine was bad (help me out here… “kickdown modul(ator)” ???) on the ‘70 a while back.
Turned out the Dynamat + new carpeting + existing carpeted floor mats = restricted gas pedal travel. Switching over to the original-type thin rubber mats cleared that right up.
Is that why you don't let the dog sleep at your feet while driving too ?
-
Hi David,
Have you had anything rebuilt ?
Assuming that you're running a stock engine, I'd look for some type of a vacuum leak. Might even be in the modulator or the carb.
I've also read that an open element air filter can affect engine vacuum at high rpm's,
Another factor is also the rear axle ratio...... Once you're up in that speed range, there's not much left to dig into.
Just a couple ideas. Hope you get things figured out.

Window gap, can’t install molding for back window

Just a quick question Dan,
How's the window mechanism working ???
If it's binding or missing bushings, or out of alignment, it may cause the molding to catch....I'm also with Willie on the door issue. That needs an adjustment.
