  1. Block her up, drain radiator and windshield res., pull battery, cover and sit sadly in the window waiting for spring. ;)

Come spring, I change the oil... just to be sure that there's some in the top end of the engine before firing her up. Replace the other fluids and grease everything, Fire her up for about 30 minutes and run through the gears before putting her back on the ground. Just to get everything loosened up.

I made the mistake the first winter of starting up in the cold..... Weakened the battery, and because of the aluminum intake and heads, the top end gaskets all needed to be replaced. :(

  2. It was Metric by the time I started (legally) driving..... 18 cents a litre.... So about 80 cents (can) for a gallon (us).

  3. And a brand new 1971 Monte Carlo cost less than $4000.00 !!!

Most G.M. A/G body cars had the filler behind the plate until '87..... AND.... One could work on them in their own garage.

    Progress...... :(

  4. If I'm understanding your new jack right, it's powered and uses a cigarette lighter type plug in end.

I have a similar powered air compressor, and instead of using the outlet in the car, I found an adapter (made by Dorman) that has the female socket at one end and battery clips at the other. That way you can draw power directly from the battery without straining the rest of the electrical system. The good one comes with a built in 20 amp fuse/holder.
