I was thinking that, and getting to them might be an issue for sure. I'll give it a try this weekend.
Hey Dennis,
Another thought.... Are there any kinks in the cable ? And, are the ends of the cable that mount to the controller and housing secure ?
I'm talking about the little tab ends with the hole for the screw. Sometimes if they're loose, they'll twist and bind the cable.
Just a thought you might want to check.
Scott.

The ‘71 came out of hibernation Friday. The ‘70 was extracted from her cocoon today. Both gave me no issues starting and felt great on the 10 - 12 mile initial ride. The AC compressor on the ‘71 gave up the ghost (the pretty green dye in the refrigerant matches the Lime Green Poly perfectly 😂), but whatya gonna do? New compressor already ordered and hopefully delivered and installed in time for Carlisle.
PS - the day I figure out how to get pictures loaded in sequence is the day Dennis’ feet don’t appear in his pictures
Luckily you still have a few weeks until you're going to need a/c.... And there's always the cold beverage option.

Spent the weekend getting her ready for spring.... IF that every comes. lol
Changed oil & filter, lubed the front end, re jetted the carb, chased that "mystery wire" down, pulled the rear seat.... and "no", there's no paperwork tucked in there.
Put the re conditioned dash and battery back in, added a squirt of gas down the carb...... And "BINGO"!!! She fired right up.
Now, just need to get the new tires on and wait out the snow the weather woman says is coming tonight.

Corrosion in the cable or on the "hinge" mechanism might be the problem.
If you can get to them, a little penetrating oil might solve the problem.

Now you can more accurately line up on those squirrels..... lol

Still have snow predicted here next week.... But I've been using these warm spells to get ready for when it finally stays warm.

Hey Dennis.... I've got a question regarding the linkage you posted a photo of.
When I swapped in the 200r4 into Montelishi, none of that linkage existed, except for the bracket on the frame. Everything is done by cable.
Just wondering if this linkage was installed on all Montes.....

I hope so. Glad it is only a 350 and the plugs are a bit easier to get to. But even at that they are not my favorite job.

Try the challenge of aftermarket headers on a 350.... Then you'll really not like it... lol

So many projects..... lol
Glad to hear you've finally gotten back to saving her.

Hey Rob...
IF memory serves, I believe that the rapidfire plugs were only compatible with H.E.I. type ignitions.
Did try them in my 3.8 L Buick and they weren't bad, better than some of those multi tipped ones.

Hummmm I had never considered Raised White Letters as an alteration but if Joe thinks we should.....Hummmmm. we have always allowed radials as a safety allowance.

If one is going to that extent, would the use of tires that were not sized from the factory be considered an alteration ???
I don't remember seeing B.F. Goodrich p255/60r15's on any G.M. order sheet.....

Montelishi came with a power master mini starter.... Last summer my starting started to act up, started to drag and grind. I thought it was the starter but it wound up being that the battery was on it's last legs. New battery cleared up all the issues. Just a thought.....

I switched from KYB's to Bilstein's as well.... Haven't got it on the road yet, but after finding that the KYB's had drained out over the winter, I decided that a good shock is worth the extra $$$.
