Looks gorgeous, Brew! I love Autumn Gold on a '70 Monte (only year it was offered)! I've owned two, one with a white vinyl top and one with black. It will be great to see more photos of yours with a painted top.Â
Hope the paint job meets your expectations because quality isn't always proportional to wait time. I left my blue '70 with a painter all summer in FL but he didn't even start on it until I returned in the fall and then did a rush job. Same money - substandard results. Never again ....
I sanded it down to bare metal, disassembled, wet sanded, reassembled. And I had to ask that many pieces be redone, some of them SEVERAL times. The lack of attention to detail was really surprising from someone with such a good rep.
I could detail the issues but I will refrain. The end product after all the issues is solid. But it seems to me that doing it properly THE FIRST TIME would save labor, material & reputation. But what do I know, I’m just a customer

Howdy! Looks great! Welcome.
I know a guy that might buy those wheel covers if you are interested.

When I put mine back together recently I had to put about 4 fender washers a side on the core mounts to get everything lined up correctly. How do your fenders, extensions, hood & door lines look? Everything line up good?Â

Looks great! Did you get the hood latch problem worked out? Did you put the extra spring in the release mechanism?
Yup. It’s working great!

I thought exactly the the same on the clock.Â

Howdy!
Looks like you got a good project ahead of you! Take your time & ask questions. Like you, when I got mine 6-7 yrs ago it needed lots of work. I’m almost done now & have learned a lot. Lots of knowledge on this forum I wish I knew about back on day one.Â
glad you are here -
Everything is for sale I guess. If the money is right. If someone were really serious I can give him your number. But I’m not posting it to sell it. Just found it interesting. There can’t have been too many made like that.Â

Not for sale. Friend of mine bought it recentlyÂ

It is a time consuming task. I pulled my whole dash out to take care of rust &  a fried printed circuit board. I also got rid of the clock. You can get LED light bulbs for the dash / gauges & replace all those as well. Like cbolt said, take your time. I too am unclear if the change in gauge is advisable.

Great advise. Good ideas. I wish I would have found this place 6 years ago when I bought my money pit. 😎

Catch, spring...I don’t know what it’s called officially.
I’m looking to break this down, clean it up, powder coat or paint & reuse it.Â
I don’t think the spring pushes the hood up far enough when latch is released. has anyone dealt with that issue? I know it has a straight slot adjustment & I’ll try that. Just looking for any do’s or don’ts folks might be aware of. Thanks -
DA sander & 80 grit will get her done
at least that’s what worked for me
i look forward to seeing your progress!
