I know my 72 didn't come with one but i'd like to install one. anyone know of one that fits near the battery and tucks into the fender. I don't have much room to instlall one along the edge of the engine bay unless someone has another idea?

Old topic I know but I installed a Borgeson unit in my 72 and the difference is tremendous. On center feel is much improved and the car doesn't wander any more. Before a strong wind would take me for a ride now it holds the road much better. Thanks for the advice.

Dig the Monte Hawaiian shirt (car looks great, also).
2 questions that shouldn't need to be asked:
1: Is this your car? Look at the shirt!
2: what year is this? Read the plate!
Yet I was asked those questions dozens of times.

Anyone know where to source replacement nylon nut plates that secure the rear taillight lenses? I guess 52 years was just too much for the originals.

As to my experience, the kick panel/speakers were installed by the PO, never was a parking brake guy until........ When I first used the parking brake it popped off the rubber brake pad, even without the pad I'm very cautious when applying the parking brake. I do like the look and performance of the speakers in the kick panel tho...just my .02
Agreed. we don't use e brakes in Alaska. they tend to freeze to the drum. although she stays indoors during the winter.

Appreciate the heads up information. Did you use the speakers that came with the kick panels or did you purchase your own. I would hope they would accommodate for clearance issues but we all know how aftermarkets stuff can be.
Used the Kenwood's that came with them. they sound ok but I might replace them later.

That looks fantastic. I notice the speakers in the kick panels. How do you like that? I was thinking of doing the same thing. I noticed them at OPG
The driver's side gets real close to the e brake. And you need to put some sound insulation behind the speakers. Be careful installing them as the plastic isn't as forgiving as the stock material.

Morris by far. Not cheap but you'll only have to buy them once. I know from experience.

I replaced my switch with a "genuine" gm part and my gauges and my heater lights went out. After pulling out what was left of my hair I discovered what stangeba said. The replacment switch was missing a terminal. When a new problem crops up always look at the last thing that was touched.

thanks to all the connection IS on the back of the a/c compressor.

What all did you do other than the steering box? It would seem I have the same wandering problem at highway speeds.

I'm going LED on my lights. Which relay works best on 72 Monte. All the ones I looked at online say they worked on some cars and not on others.

I know this an old post but summit racing sells pigtails that plug into one of the lamp sockets so there is no cutting of wires and can easily be returned to stock. for us new to the site.

Looks like a good starting point. Keep sending the pics as you progress. By the way you seem to be the only first gen Monte fan other than me in the state that I've heard from.

Just to add to this confusion, ALL my side windows (front and rear) read backwards from the outside. the rear glass reads forward from the outside.

Rest of car show season
in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Posted
First snow usually flies around the 1st-2nd week of Oct. and hangs around until April. not much for a show season. About 75% of this season was rain soaked. I'll probably be looking to relocate to the east coast after next year when I retire (if interest rates cooperate).
