  1. Does this hose just friction fit or am I missing something that holds it in place? It must have shaken loose on the drive home on the destroyed tyres.
  2. I am getting 245/60/15 cooper cobra fit and wondering what pressure to ask for. 32psi sound right?
  3. Every time I stop the car people just walk up smiling with questions! It’s great. Looking good in my barn. Needs the bench seats out for a good clean next, and to see if the Tennessee mouse in the trunk had a friend!
  4. Thanks. Doesn’t that look nice all painted (powder coated?)
  5. Just want to check - this frame weld line is supposed to be there right?
  6. Before: After: Couldn’t believe it scraped off with my thumbnail and a damp cloth, it looked exactly like a huge stone chip. Such a nice feeling!
  7. Where do you guys buy your wiper blades? Trico tech 16” according to eBay, will that fit?. Can’t let that bare metal run over the windshield again
  8. I bought a charger for it, if only I could fit it in my damn garage! I have about 2 inches tolerance either side of the entrance, and it’s only 16 foot deep so I have to turn before I hit the back wall!
  9. The Monte is a wide car over here - wider than my Audi A6 Avant, and some roads in my rural area are slender, will make for some interesting overtaking moves!
  10. It’s harder to solve a simple problem when the flasher and the warning buzzer (seat belt alarm?) are draining the battery!
  11. You getting ready to fit rear glass Dennis? they all look great. So I guess 225/70 is near to original, and 245/60 is basically wider & lower? Does anyone go 70 rear / 60 front for an angled stance? no clearance issues with 255 Canuck?
  12. So there’s loads of info here on tyres but I can’t seem to find the definitive size I need to choose for cooper cobras for the rallye wheels. According to the receipt from 1975 (see attached photo, found in the glove box), The original tyres were GR70 (I think 15). I’m reading 225/70/15 would be close to original, 235/70/15 would work too. Does this sound correct? Not sure how to check
  13. Problem #1 of many! the warning / hazard lights are flashing on and off continuously as soon as I connect the battery, draining it. I cannot see a hazard light button in the dash! What am I missing? (for clarity- both indicators flashing at the same time, front and rear.)
  14. Jesus lads, that was a stressful drive home. The 50 year old tyres failed halfway home. I thought the car was going to shake itself apart. Stopped for fuel and it wouldn’t start because I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the warning light and it must have drained the battery. The connectors are rusty and loose and needed a tighten then a jump start. the tyres have worn back to the wire on the back left, I’d doubt she would have made it another 10 miles. anyway, made it home! Tyres first on the list, then bleed the brakes, tidy the battery, and everything else! What a trip. IMG_0024.MOV
  15. Haha yeah I have no idea how he got in the car with the space left inside the container! Probably better not to record those gymnastics on video
  16. It’s in Dublin, picking her up tomorrow! the guys at the storage facility said it started on the first try. A little air needed in one tyre. 40 mile drive tomorrow is the real test.
  17. Ok it’s on the way to Belfast, then Dublin, so I’m getting ahead of myself, it’s close though!
  18. Can’t leave you hanging like that… There once was a blue Monte Carlo, Odometer numbers they are low, Dry barn where it slumbers No rust, matching numbers, To Ireland with this precious cargo Said Irish to North Carolina “Please send to me by ocean liner” He wasn’t to know That container ships go Round the world and the Great Wall of China The Monte dropped in a container, And tied down with straps to restrain her, Sailed past the titanic Crew all in a panic Storm Barra was trying to claim her The ship had to put down its anchor The waves by Antwerp nearly sank her Went past an iceberg On the way to Hamburg The captain said that was a wanker Next on the list Rotterdam, To Belfast then Dublin and wham! Touch tyres on tarmac Through customs then back Will it overheat in traffic jam? I sit myself on the bench seat Three fifty V8 hits the street the grille looks brand new Like in seventy two Goddammit this car’s feckin’ sweet!
  19. The container is waiting in Antwerp for a smaller cargo ship to pick it up. The ports are PACKED apparently. I’m checking vessel finder on an hourly basis it’s ridiculous!
