  1. Hello one and all, I recently pulled my windshield out of my 71 Monte after having had a leak for a really long time. After doing so I discovered that the top portion of windshield support. Outside where the roof seams to another piece of metal, is basically completely rusted out and destroyed. Does anybody know what the best way to go about fixing this is? And does anybody know if they sell strips that can go there?
  2. I have a burnt orange hood, I don’t really know if it’s a 71-72 or 70, as I don’t know how to tell the difference. It has minor pitting scratches, paint chips, hail damage, surface rust on the underside but no structural damage or deep rust. Sits flush on my car so I don’t think it’s bent or torqued at all. It does not come with the hood hinges that are shown in the pictures. It recently had been buffed and polished smooth paint, if you like the look of patina. No rust bubbles on the top side or edges as well. here are some photos of it, I didn’t have the man power to move the hood to see the leading edge by the windshield but I have removed the trim and it’s tip top shape, if you want to see that I can have someone help me, just message me. https://imgur.com/a/Vq3CUJl Looking for 500, to 600$, if you need it shipped far and if shipping is more, we can discuss lowering the price a bit. And if you are 3-4 hours away from Cawker kansas I am willing to drive it to you.
  3. I have a 1971 Monte door that’s bright orange. In my original post I said NOS. It is not NOS, I was unaware of the definition of NOS. This IS A USED door, it is missing one hinge, has the glass inside. And door handle and lock(no key) has a very small amount of surface rust on the bottom edge, no holes or weak spots on that edge. No surface rust on inside or outside, some chips and regular paint wear on edges. No dents. Paint is covered is small scratches with a couple larger visible scratches. Here are some images. If you have any questions or have a different price message me, I am open to what you have to offer I just know what my optimal amount it. Thanks! I’m located in Cawker City Kansas, if your less then 3/4 hours away I’m willing to drive it to you. 500$ range, OBO. https://imgur.com/a/CFOYK9m https://imgur.com/a/x64ECxK it may look like a seam on the inside of the door, I have talked with some moderators and experienced guys on here and we found it was a line of sealant or something similar, in the video I show it crumble off and underneath is no seam or welds. The last photos show that.
  4. I have a 71 Monte Carlo, that’s engine exploded so I need to make some money to fund its rebuild, saying that I have a ton of parts, I don’t really have the knowledge to say what everything is but I’ll try. I’m total I have 1 - black cloth rear backrest for bench seats. 4 - 70-71 front fenders, I don’t want to sell all four but there are two yellow, one burnt orange and one blue, so depending on what’s wanted I have options, but I only want to sell two. All of them have. Very minimal rust on the edges. Besides the blue one. 3 - tail corner pieces, they are all non-rusted non-dented. 1 - basically the whole AC set up besides the condenser housing. Though I don’t know if anyone uses those anymore. Because of the outdated refrigerant. 1 - 1970 headlight housing, not chrome bezel it was originally blue, but I ended up sending it off and finding body filler under it, to me, it looks like just a slight dent but I don’t really know I haven’t dug deep. 1/20 - various trim pieces but a lot of them aren’t great condition, lots of blemishing, and some dents, but I do have an SS back trim piece that goes just below the trunk that is in good condition. 2 - rear frames, I got them from a guy who said he cut them off Monte’s, he said one is 71, one, 70. They have rust on them just surface though. No holes or thin spots. 2 - radios don’t know if they work. 1 - I believe 1970 driver side door, no rust, a couple small dents. 2 - 71 rectangle headlight front bumpers, some dents and one has some rust on it. 3 - hoods, I only am willing on selling one, one deep orange surface rust bubbling on a section. One burnt orange some dents, and a yellow with a bent up corner. Prices are negotiable, I know they aren’t prefect, and so not full retail price obviously. of the things I have multiple but aren’t selling all, take your pick and whatever one you want I’ll part with. I’ll post some pictures and if the description fits what you’re looking for. Or multiple things let me know and I’ll send you as many pictures/videos as you’d like. my location by the way, is central Kansas. And rather than paying shipping. If you’re less than four hours away from Downs, Kansas, I’m willing to drive it down to you. https://imgur.com/a/W7hlPCP
  5. That will help, I had no idea how to proceed. The If it takes three years to do it I'll consider the beer. ha-ha. Luckily I already had the fenders off so I know how to do that.
  6. Luckily small hands are an availability, I'm finding out that its not an easy job now, shucks. I took the front fenders off before so It wont be that much of a problem to do again or partially do. Thanks for the input.
  7. Yea, those are the clips I am struggling with. I will try and find some pop on clips then. Thank you!
  8. I am trying to put my trim back on the car for a local car show but I cant find out how to reinstall it on the right front fender behind the wheel. I tried a bit but I didn't want to mess up and break the clips and such, they also are different then the clips for the door trim and quarter trim. So I am Wondering if anyone knows how to do it and if there is a video or something and I am assuming there is a specific way of putting them on. As shown I was able to get the rest on but the front I giving me a fight. MY apologies for the pictures, I keep forgetting to take good pictures of the whole car and the stuff I'm working on. Thank you.
  9. I have a three speed TH 400 transmission and have been looking for a new and better detent plate, are you still making them? Thank you!
  10. More then potential, we took it off and yea its bad in some spots, but nothing we cant fix, just lots of work.
  11. Defiantly going to do that, I wanted to know if they were stock because otherwise they aren't good and they make it rust so thanks, going in the pile of unusable stuff now.
  12. Yea I defiantly agree I just wanted to know so if they were stock I could put them back on but I don't like them and its rusted bad under it.
  13. After I got my car I started look up information about these cars and I noticed that mine has these chrome strips half was up the car that I haven't seen on any other car, I don't know if it was an option I just cant find anything about of if they are not supposed to be there and were aftermarket. I just haven't been able to find any other cars with this stuff on it. Thanks.
  14. Thanks and luckily I was given a tail panel, its a little rusty on some spots but we can repair that hopefully.
  15. Thank you, and yes the tail panel is bent on the left, luckily the right side wasn't effected in the collision.
  16. Yes there is quite a lot of rust one the inner wheel house, that area is basically not there besides a very small lip. And I have a rear frame so I will cut out the bent part and weld that on.
  17. I am trying to find some good quarter panels for my car but I don't really know what are good options, I have found some but I cant find if they are good. Anyway I basically only need up to the tip body line on each side, I really don't want to get the whole quarte panel because then I would have to either cut some off (as far as I know they are expensive) or I take the vinyl off and I don't want to unless I have too. I know the vinyl is coming off and I will have to replace it its just not something I want to do. Thank you.
  18. I meant timing chain my apologies. So basically after I got the car I was told that it would run great but the camshaft was a pain and that it would possibly be a issue in the future, I will be replacing some of the internals as they are old are not in the best shape, and figured that I would like the extra power I could get. so with that in mind I thought getting two out of the way and any little thing would be a nice idea. I know i should pull the engine its just not feasible currently.
  19. Hello, I am new to this club and figured it would be a great help in restoring my car. My car is a Burnt orange 1971 Monte Carlo, it originally had a 350 and was one of the lower end packages. The first owner had the car and got into a rear end accident and ended up selling the car to the owner before me. He found the car with no engine, tranny, and it was missing the interior so he started building up the car, he had the idea of making it an SS so He bought original interior for the car, the SS seats, Floor shifter, and dash, along with buying a 454 to go into the car. He pulled the engine out of a 73 pickup so its not the same as the OG 454s but it works and he also put in a turbo hydromantic 400 transmission. When I bought the car it had been sitting in his yard since 1984 ish. With the car I got a heap of parts; bumpers, two whole front clips, steering columns, doors, two frame assemblies and much more. So now I'm going to be rebuilding the car, painting and repairing the damage, luckily for us the car turned over first try and runs great, it wont drive because the breaks and all the other important components don't work but it saves us money to have a good engine. It was a great deal but she needs a lot of work. I have a ttached the beset picture I have currently, and if anyone wants to see more I will gladly take more. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipOHoZq7vLeAec84ujKTdFCP9iLxHWPZ6huuANGZ https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPBb7VqdCdXwUBEV9AcLTFfCSumTUrhwWqAnSFW https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipOnWzArJE4hLnTu9JzHc0dhXeHSbYlhZ4zps0sc https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPybJm4cTsTTDsHTnetHbOUUyE04SM_Zhl0uPr8 https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMeeFfBKCJLCRQsg9V1gVfkH-pRgiRuEDxI8guQ https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNel59DldXYUPAtpWutrkwxV6KH78TmIn9OS1Bj https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMp_ZegB527u9vKHcwTqzFXDd-kJdYqn3x99yns
  20. The car is a 71 Monte Carlo, originally a 350 but converted after the engine was removed because of an accident, I acquired the car after the engine and transition was rebuilt and sat in a yard since the 80s. The engine is a 1973 454 form a heavy duty pickup (that's all I know besides numbers) Hello, So I have been in the works of shining up my engine, in the process I will be replacing the engine mounts, and figured if I'm going to be down there I might as well get myself a new timing belt and camshaft, the only problem is that I don't have the space to pull the engine completely and it is a 454 from a 73 pickup truck. I don't know how similar the engine is to the 71 Monte Carlo SS and its 454 but I figured they would be similar in size. I have been trying to figure out if its possible to replace the cam without the engine out, I know it will be harder but I'm willing and able. So if anyone knows if its possible to replace the cam without the engine removed, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Picture of the engine, I couldn't find out how to get a photo in here sorry. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNel59DldXYUPAtpWutrkwxV6KH78TmIn9OS1Bj
