    Window felts

does the 1970 monte window felts come with the chrome strip on the outside wiper seal? I ordered a Repops Replacement Felt Kit for 1970-1972 Chevy Monte Carlo w/Special Molding Part Number : 629-MT107R and it does not have chrome on the outside, just on the door panel felt. I chatted with tech support at JEGS and they say I need a MT-106A. Anybody order these recently? Thanks

    Anniversary

    Happy Anniversary!
  3. Anybody use the Flatline precut pieces for sound deadener? I'm not really sure where these pieces should go. I figure on the cross brace inside the door.....
  4. I'm working on it! Lol
  5. I finished my American Autowire Update kit!!! (not without help) It wasn't as bad as i thought and following suggestions from the group helped tremendously, thanks All said and done i had 2 big problems: my blower motor would not work on any speed and dome light/brake light fuse kept blowing when power was applied. I added courtesy lights under the dash and the instructions say to double the wires, into a series 56male terminal, from the connector that runs to the dome light back to the drivers side courtesy light.... now i have the crimpers from AAW and i did a pretty good job on the other terminals but apparently i cannot get these right. long story short i just used the factory wiring connectors in the dash harness for the console courtesy lights plugged it into the underdash lights and all works great!!! Blower motor πŸ˜’ would not work on any speed. After a good time every wire under the dash i reached out to JFT69z.... huge help!!!!! After a great discussion and some well needed knowledge on how the system works i was armed with some troubleshooting steps. The last thing Joe said was "does the motor WORK, is it bad?" Well of course it works, i bench tested it before i painted it and put it in. Got 12v to the motor it didn't work, ripped the fender off pulled motor out and found the ground was bad on the motor frame. Cleaned the paint off reattached the ground terminal and it works like a champ! My point to all this rambling is this: Installing a complete wiring harness, in my opinion, is a huge undertaking. When something does not work I look at the WHOLE thing thinking so many things to check and totally overlooked the the basic troubling shooting steps. Instead of thinking there is a thousand connections i just made which one is wrong, think smaller, basic steps first and it becomes so much more manageable. Secondly, ask for help before you go crazy!! AAW has a fantastic tech support and this forum is outstanding! Best $25 i've ever spent!!! tons of knowledge, experience and willingness to help perfect strangers!!! Thanks again to Joe for his help on a Sunday afternoon, he could've been watching football, but he was on the phone with me!πŸ˜πŸ‘
  6. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, just up here in Iowa the cold,I feel, makes it brittle then it cracks.
  7. i dont like the corrugated stuff either. i am going to put that asphalt on the sending wire, i like that idea.
  8. thanks! I like that loom also. thanks for the links, i didn't know about the asphalt stuff. i am replacing all the wires as the car is gutted so easy to do now without the headliner in.
  9. I did do that, it's been a year or so ago
  10. It's time for wiring the '70 up! I have been putting it off as long as i can and now it's time to start, so i will apologize now for the "obvious questions" i'm gonna ask! 😁 With that being said here goes........ #1 Any tips before i get started? #2 i believe the dome light routes across the roof to the drivers side then along the roof and drops in behind the sail panel and plugs into the harness behind the upper half of the back seat. i have enough wire that i was gonna run it like that but slip it thru the package tray, instead of behind the back seat, and put the connector in the trunk. i don't know what it would hurt, any thoughts?
  11. yeah, in my mind it just doesnt work, LOL! thank you for the answer. I gues we'll leave it then
  12. I couldnt find anything either, thanks for the research and the pic, its alot better view than mine!!!!! Thank you for your service!
  13. This is the defroster Y duct that attaches to the top of the heater box. it is screwed into the holes up by the windshield but does not sit down tight on the vent in the top of the heater box. I cant push the heater box up anymore and i am not finding a seal or anything that would fill this 3/8-inch gap. is it supposed to be there, what am i missing? I posted this on the Monte Carlo facebook page also.
  14. I got one in the scrap heap. Just need to head out there and dig it up. I'll try and do that this morning.
  15. I agree about it not being normal. I also had a thought about the water pump mount, where that bolt # 8 goes in. If that casting was just a little thicker or moved towards the front a 1/4 inch. Just a thought. I'm reluctant to grind on the water pump to move the ps pump back towards the block in fear of not getting it square. Then the pickle I'd be in🀷. Any thoughts?
  16. My eyes are old, lol, but looks like it is lined up Ok. Might be a little off but as close as I can get it and way better than it was. I think the true test will be when I get the ac compressor on, and see how it all lines up.
  17. 1.3 is the one I needed. Found it at The Parts Place. Works good now. The belt is on the wrong groove but its just to test the line up.
  18. UPDATE: I found the old cracked pully and measured the backspacing definitely different. Again I took the hard route to find it out! LOL. Now I'm in search of the right one.
  19. Mine definitely looks farther away than yours.
  20. The alt/waterpump pully line up great. I'm sure it's the p/ s pully just don't know why. It seems like it's on all the way, as in bottomed on the shaft, But doesn't look like it looking at the bolts. As snomobeelr pics show.
  21. No, I took a double off and I plan on putting the AC back in.
  22. I bought a new power steering pump and pully. I have it installed and washers between the mounting bracket and pump and I still can't get it to line up with the crank pully. About half a groove off. The pulls slide right on but, seems like it is bottomed out on the shaft. Any ideas?
