  1. Hi All, Looking for a set of used side moldings and not at all cleaned up for my 70. I don't want it to clash with my old paint and other old trim. Also, the front valance I have is a little more hammered than I like but I don't want a brand new one. Maybe someone out there has a repository of old parts?? Thank you.
  2. Title says it all. Bought it and did not need it, I'm an idiot and needed the ac delete rather than this. $70. Thanks,
  3. Hi All, Just joined up here officially and wanted to share my Monte. It's a 70 I bought it back in 2016 as a 350 350 car, tore that out in 2018 for another project that I ended up selling. I am now neck deep in putting a 454/400 combo into it. I really appreciate all the help and advice so far as I have reached out on a variety of things I need help with. I anticipate much more solicitation on my part in the next few months lol as I have never gone through this process and to say I am nervous about installing and breaking in a freshly rebuilt flat tappet cam engine, would be the understatement of the century. Anyway I am just at a point now I have the trans put back together and can get it mated to the motor so I can get it in the car. I have a new engine and front lamp harnesses on order so I have time, a few weeks at least. Looking forward to conversing with and meeting more of you in the future. (First 4 pics are from 2018 when it was last a running car before I too the old 350/350 out. The rest are current(ish) progress/status and some other general beauty shots) Couple new guy questions if anyone could help- 1. I was thinking about using this stuff: https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/auto/truck-bed-and-undercoating/2-in-1-rust-reform-seal for all the front frame and what not now that I have the grease and grime off and it's down to the metal. The car is remarkably rust free other than some minor surface in a couple areas. My understanding is the car spent the majority of it's life in central WA where it is very arid most of the year. 2. Based on my body tag is my car just a two tone or is it supposed to have a vinyl top? The reason I am confused is I thought only the vinyl top cars got that extra trim above the windshield in 70. P.S. Ignore the mustang in the background lol.
  4. Sounds good thank you!
  5. Ok I will confirm but I believe that is the correct one. Thank you!
  6. yes exactly. I think the wire from the harness down to the trans will be in the new engine wiring harness I have on order.
  7. You are awesome thank you! Do you know a good source for the trans control wire assembly? I bought the bracket, switch and I have a new th400 engine harness on order so I should have the connector to the trans itself but I haven't been able to locate the wire assembly. My car was a 350/350 that I am changing to 454/400 so I need all the stuff to go with the new setup.
  8. Does anyone know if this is the same setup for a 70 with a th400? Or is it a switch on the carb? I can't find an answer in the 70 assembly manual.
  9. I did a little more research on the trans and it is out of a 70's truck, so I need a counterbore yoke 32 spline I believe. Also, just asking here, if the 400 sits further back and I need to get the driveshaft cut could I just buy the right yoke with a new UV joint and when I get the yoke end of the driveshaft cut and replaced with the new yoke and UV? Since the I am staying with my 12 bolt and have the pinion UV still I could reuse that whole end right?
  10. It's the stock 12 bolt rear end. Would you know where I could source the correct yoke to match the u joints you mentioned?
  11. Hi, I've posted a few times in the tech area and was advised this may be a good source to locate a yoke and possibly UV joint for my 70 monte that was a stock 350/350 car, that I am dropping a 454/400 in. I know now I need to cut the driveshaft down or buy a new one if that is more cost effective I am not experienced enough to know. So anyway I am looking for the yoke and maybe a driveshaft. Thanks!
  12. Hey Scott, thank you I appreciate the answer on this. I am guessing I will need a different UV joint as well for the yoke as the 350 is smaller than what the 400 would be? I will look in the for sale section for sure, thanks again.
  13. Hey All, I am trying to figure some stuff out pertaining to the driveshaft and yoke for this 454/400 swap from a 350/350. Am I going to be able to use the stock driveshaft and just swap the yoke on it to fit the 400 or am I going to need to modify and shorten it because the 400 mounts further back? Also if I can use the old driveshaft where can I find a yoke that will fit? Thanks for all the help so far on this thing, you guys are awesome.
  14. Yep that is super helpful thank you. I have the same holes just like your but my crossmember is mounted all the way forward
  15. Hi all, I am building a 454 with a th400 and dropping it into my 70, hopefully soon. My car is a 350/350 originally. My question is about the trans crossmember mount location. Is it in the same place for the 350 and the 400 or do I need to move it back? Thank you.
  16. Got it yeah I am just starting to get my 70 put back together. I bought it in '16 with a GM Goodwrench 350 crate and 350 trans that I pulled (was going to do a 350swap into a LUV, that didn't work out, long story) and now just purchased a rebuilt 454 bored to a 472. I am in the process of collecting all the necessary accessories to get it running including going through an old th400, good times. Anyway that has nothing to do with door hinges but felt like I should share lol. OPGI is obnoxious so far in my limited experience. I had to cancel an order for inner fenderwells as it was backordered with no eta, I just got a pair off eBay. A Anyway, I am glad this is an active site, I will be hitting you guys up often I think lol.
  17. Ok thanks for the advise on that, would you go with this set?: https://www.opgi.com/door-handles-hardware/door-hinges/door-hinge-restoration-kit/hinge-door-1968-72-gm-a-body-kit-ch2074.html Or is there a better option for purchasing? OPGI seems to have stuff out of stock a lot.
  18. Good deal thanks all I appreciate the information.
  19. Which hinge and bushing kits do you know of specifically? I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CR6D9M87?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details but they look too big. I did that and it doesn't look too hogged out but the bushing is gone. Also do I just cut the factory pin to get it out? Thank you!!!
  20. Hi all, First time posting and just starting on a project to get a 472 installed in my 1970 monte. As an aside to that my driver's door is sagging and I would like to fix it. Is there a hinge and bushing kit anyone could point me to or am I looking at buying a new set of hinges? They appear to be the factory hinges as they are body color and crimped. Thanks.
