Why do I get the feeling this build sheet was found with 6 other sheets stuffed in the seat of another Monte Carlo?

If you have a big block and install the small block shroud, you may have to cut the shroud for alternator clearance, the fan will be too deep inside to cool properly and may also need to be clearances for the lower crank pulley.
This is what I have been told. I've always done the conversions correctly and have not run into those issues.
Hmmm.... I will send ya a pic this weekend.

So what’s the harm in just running a small block shroud? You got me worried.

I carry an extra alt. Belt ever since I broke down the day I first met you at the windmill show. I remember that day with fond and bad memories but at least Hagerty road service was there to help. And yes retirement is great you will enjoy it, of course your wife may get sick of you 😅
In desperation I used a bunch of industrial zip ties as an alternator belt.. it was LOUD.. but it worked.

Gas station encounter.....Because my car (not the Monte) does not have a cold air intake (I’m assuming he’s talking about the aftermarket air filter setup thats smashed between the header pipes and radiator) my car is “modded” at “stage 1” performance...
I’m so glad I’m getting old.

I'd bet that decal was nearly useless & brittle too. And you'd be the a**hole in his eyes, if the thing fell apart in your hands trying to apply it to the vehicle.
So I repaired the spring as Dennis suggested. It's for sale and I'll paint it any color you want. It also comes with a "30/30" Guarantee! (30 feet or 30 seconds, whichever comes first).
I would prefer soldered thank you
We couldn’t even get the backing off the vinyl.- 1

I’m running a 9” booster with what I would assume is the “cheater” valve covers (3/4” taller) I could have got away with a standard booster but the extra room is nice.

my stock 350 ran perfectly smooth. Nice idle, no noise, etc. and when I broke it down I found a cracked head and a hole in the #1 piston.
Moral of the story is you never know what is inside until you take the top off of it... (think Forrest Gump)

It didn't take much for the spring I posted above to come apart.
Dennis & I spoke on the phone a little bit ago and agree that with modern materials & manufacturing techniques, it doesn't appear the springs are included for a reason anymore. That being said, they're available from other vendors if it makes you feel better.
Also, if someone was buying a NOS hose from years ago, it would probably need the spring. But then again, I certainly wouldn't trust a 50 year old rubber hose either.
Yeah.. most NOS stuff is great but ya got to draw the line somewhere. I had a customer bring me a NOS R/T charger decal kit from 1969 to put on his car that he paid a fortune for.... bad idea

Of the two hoses one spring looks like it has barnacles growing on it, I doubt it could be transferred, the other hose looks like the spring is built in or something. So as of now I don’t have a spring.

Hello everyone,
my th350 has a vacuum line that goes from the intake to the rear of the transmission. The factory line is 5/16 but is reduced to about 1/16 on each end. What will happen if I just run 5/16 or do I need to add a restrictor?
thank you.

Hello everyone, my new radiator hoses came in and the lower does not have a spring inside.. my old hose from the sbc and the bbc both had springs in them.. is this necessary?
thank you. -
My situation was similar. I bought a low mileage 402 that was about as stock and untouched as it gets. I went for a ride in the car before it was removed and it ran strong and smooth. While it was on my engine stand I pulled the valve covers to clean everything up and found bent pushrods, a ruined guide plate and rocker.. so I did a leakdown test to find that it had bigger issues. Pulled the heads, bent valves and even mashed pistons from the valves hitting. One piston having darn near a valve relief forged into it from a valve hitting. From there I just tore it all down, but I regret it as the bottom end was flawless.

Not to be rude or offend, but I think I just wasted 3 minutes of my 81 year life….. LOL
I remember being a kid in auto shop and this electric car designer came in to talk to the class . He said with all confidence “I guarantee within 10 years there will be no gas powered vehicles on the road”... that was 1996.

Yes they are fast, very fast.. you would never know it by the way their brain dead owners drive them. And the fact that I would have to wear skinny jeans, and man bun while sipping on a vegan latte to properly fit in keeps me from ever owning one.

I installed my new fuel tank today and hooked up all the evap/vent tubes that consist of 3” rubber hoses on each end... it’s a lot of 3” hoses. When I removed the tank and evap lines none of the hoses had clamps.. Is this correct? Press them on and go? Thank you in advance.

Think I remember one of them attached to the voltage regulator on my 71. Did or does yours have an external regulator?
Yes it’s externally regulated. I believe it was all stock till I ripped it apart.

I wish I had taken pictures, but on the backside of the radiator support next to the driver side headlamp was a coil condenser screwed to the support and not hooked up to anything.. any idea why it’s there? 72 Monte Carlo 350/350, a/c. Thank you.
