  1. Check out this site for interaction between metals in salt water./www.corrosion-doctors.org/Definitions/galvanic-series.htm I don't believe there should be much concern with interaction between different metals in an exhaust system. I would be more concerned with aluminium heads and a cast iron block with bad anitfreeze or no corrosion protrction at all.
  2. According to the book i am looking at it is from a series 20 or 30 chassis. I think the tranny would work with a standard slip yoke.
  3. Is the yoke bolted in with a bolt going into the center of the output shaft or is there a nut on the output shaft? I would have to crawl under my pickup to look and it is raining and cold! If the yoke has a bolt going into the output shaft I bet it would work. I am thinking that if the output shaft has a threaded portion on it the yoke may bottom out on it. In 78 the code for a turbo 475 is CL
  4. the 375 has 375THM cast on the bottom of the tailshaft in 1/4 inch high letters about six inches long right behind the mount. The output shaft is the the same size as the turbo 350. The 475 was used from 71 up in medium duty trucks, motorhomes and buses. There is no way to tell from the outside execpt from ID, but I think that most of them have bolt on yokes instead of a slip yoke. They have straight cut planetary gears. Too many codes to list, they are on a tag on the right side of the case the large letters 1 on the left and 1 on the right side of the tag.
  5. You could also look into a new style cs130 or cs144 GM alternator. GM had to up the amperage on LOW speeds for computer controls, electric fuel pumps , injectors, and day time running lights. If you do a web search you will find wiring harness adapters to put one in place. If you upgrade to Higher amps make sure you increase the wire size from the alternator feed to handle the extra amps.
  6. We did a 434 for my nephew's 86 Monte this spring it has Jegs 215 heads on it and it runs great! We looked at the big block option and when you consider the special headers, new springs hood mods, and all the other changes the 434 made sense. Also most people think it is a 350.
