  1. Thank you, guys.

Hi Denny. I can make and supply the brackets. I copy my original pair so that they look and fit the same as the originals do. I start with 4 pieces of sheetmetal and I finish the welds to look like they were stamped. I've sold 2 pairs in the last week. All of my products come with a satisfaction guarantee. The brackets are $240 shipped to the 50 states.

OK thanks you’re right they do look like cloth in the pictures.

You're right. I got the first pair of '70 door panels they made and they were actually a cloth-like fabric where the originals are vinyl. I compared them when I noticed it, buy they fabric is a very close match to the vinyl. They fit so poorly that I couldn't even close the doors, and the heat seams on the vertical pleats were coming loose. I called and complained (with photos) and they had them picked up for the return. I offered to loan them my original panels to use for a pattern, which were in pretty good shape, other than being faded. They also paid for the shipping on them. My car has power locks and windows. When I got the replacements and the originals back, I checked the new panels and they fit well. I didn't open the box with the original panels until 5 or 6 months later, when I needed to take the stainless steel pieces off for the new panels. That's when I found that they only gave me back my passenger side. I assumed they wanted and kept the driver side because it gave them the locations for the lock and window switches. I should have called them and blasted them for stealing my door panel, but time had passed and I didn't.

  3. Both of those Jegs part numbers are for "special moulding". That tells me they only fit the B85 option, which is the Beltline Reveal Moulding. It's the wide stainless steel moulding option that most Montes did not come with.

  4. I used the great information that's in the 1970 service manual to make the tool to do the job safely. A steel bar with a groove ground into it on one end, a wedge cut from a wooden 2x6, and a floor jack worked great! I added the cable hoist to make it easier to line up the bolts during the installation.

  5. Thanks. What does the special provision for oil cooling consist of? I only took these 2 photos while I had the engine apart.

The original owner that built this engine was a racer. He regularly raced a V8 Vega, but I know he raced my car at least once. A time slip was found in the console glove box.

    Hi Dan,

Just read your post. I own a 1971 Monte Carlo 402 factory 4 speed .Primary color is original sandalwood with vinyl top. All numbers matching and yes I am aware that it is 1 of 80 produced .This car was ordered with A/C delete and is in as close to pristine as it can get. Car has been completely restored and runs very well. Last six of vin is 188715. I

absolutely love this car as I have owned a 1970 and two 1972s in the past. This is the first 4 speed that I have ever seen other than the one that sold at Mecum last year for 90k

Welcome, and thanks for the information. I hope that once you get a little more familiar with the site that you'll start a thread telling us more about your car and post the photos. Sounds like an excellent car. I had a '71  w/350 auto. that was Sandalwood with a brown vinyl top, black interior. What color is your top?

What assembly plant built your car?
