  1. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions. Issue is finally solved. Please don`t send me any messages either.....I might not be able to clear it again! Jim
  2. Ian, Thank-you, whatever you did worked! I have been looking at that for months and tried everything. Jim
  3. I have used explorer already. I did this the other nite. I used the delete cookies button, however I refuse to use delete all and have to reestablish every other stored password on my computer. It would seem just as easy to accomplish this request from the FGMCC administrators capabilities. Please help Jim
  4. Hi Ian, I need you to fix it in the back. I tried to expire the cookies twice. It did not work. This problem has been going on for months. Please help......Jim
  5. Hi, My message light keeps blinking even though there are no messages. I have tried everything I know to clear the blinking problem . I have no way of knowing if I have a message unless I constantly click on and check the blinking lite. Does anyone else have this problem? Ian can you correct it or tell me what to do? Thanks, Jim
  6. body-off restoration completed `08. Car has all original panels, floor boards, and trunk with no bondo Original 454 and drivetrain
  7. Midnight Bronze, Black vinyle top, original 454
  8. Thanks guys to all who posted. My car is correct in that it has 1 horn on the driver`s side connected by a green wire. I was confused by all the mail order catalogs because they show 2 horns for ALL first gen model years. I want the car bone stock correct inspite of the fact that the 70 and 71 models sound better with 2.
  9. Can someone tell me if a `72 Monte had 1 or 2 horns.
  10. Thanks for the pictures Capri! Great work! If it wasn`t for you, I would not have a pic of me at the awards. Forgot the camera! Jim
  11. Rich, Thank-you. I am trying to sort some of the incorrectness out from my recently restored `72 454 that I just acquired. The car has "the snake swallowing a rat" resonators with SS NOS chrome tips. Gardner did the exhaust for the restorer. I`m not sure if there was any other option for correctness from Gardner. The restorer was so proud of the chrome tips that he probably did not want to opt for correct. I plan on bringing the car to the Eastern meet and want to not be surprised when people tell me things are incorrect.
  12. Hi all, I am a new member with a `72 Monte 454 I just acquired and plan to have judged this year at the Eastern meet. The car has an original 454 with duals on the build sheet. Can someone tell me if the exhaust tips found on the SS model 70-71 are correct for the `72 454? These tips are NOS GM right down to the correct part numbers. Thanks, Jim
  13. Dave, Thank-you! You have been extremely helpful. I am a Corvette guy and have been involved with the NCRS. You only compete against yourself in their arena. I thought the Monte Carlo Nationals had a more precise judging system than you indicate. This is my first go round with a Monte, so I didn`t know how precise things had to be. You have given me a good feel for what to expect. Thanks again....Jim
  14. David, Thank-you. You have confirmed much of what I was already thinking. I plan on bringing this car to the eastern meet in Greensburg PA for judging. I am new to Monte Carlo judging so forgive what may be a stupid question. But is the eastern meet , car being judged in a stock class, considered any type of "concours" event that would constitute a deduction for these tires? The previous owner, who restored and had the car judged in Canada at the Granby, claims tires were a no deduct. How would FGMCC and NMCOA treat these for judging purposes? Thanks, Jim
  15. I agree with all that have posted here saying they have never seen anything as late as a `72 model with redlines. My question is whether or not the shop manual ( having been printed that they are acceptible ) could be held as gospel in a judged event for arguing correctness. The fellow who restored my car in Canada, had it at a couple major Canadian judged events and maintained the redlines flew as 'correct' after he used the shop manual to support their existence.
  16. Thanks for your reply Kevin. Does anybody know if the info in the shop manual will support correctness for judging? Perhaps one of the tire strikes during the vehicle assembly time frame justified the factory throwing on whatever was available?! If the consensus is no way, I`ll consider swapping these out for white stripes before the meet. Thanks, Jim
  17. Can someone tell me if red line tires were ever put on from the factory in 1972. I just purchased a `72 with original 454. The restorer put on red lines and maintains the build guide books clearly state they were used by the factory on occasion and would be correct for judging. I am contemplating having the car at the East Meet this year. Thanks, Jim
