  1. Anyone have any picture of the TH400 Vacum tube they can post? Looks like I may just have to reconfig the one I got from In-line Tube.
  2. I bought a new stainless steel transmission vacuum line for my 71 Monte /th400 from inline tube. I have no idea how to get it to fit. Anyone have some pictures of this ? Picture of transmission vacuum modulator and engine intake would be great. Thanks
  3. I had started to grind down the Shifter bracket that mounts to the Trans pan. As I was looking at it though it looked as if I would have to grind down too much and it would not work.. So I ordered a Hughes Pan which appears to have the same Ridge for the Mounting bolts as the Steel pan.. I hope
  4. I Placed the extension in. Used the Bolt and nut they said to use. Got it all lined up. Then noticed the bracket for the shifter will not bolt up with this pan.. I guess I should have looked into the pan a little more before jumping in. Think I will look into another pan.
  5. So I went and bought a B&M Aluminum Trans pan for my TH400. Part number 20280. They have a filter extension for that is supposed to be used with the standard depth stock filter tube. It makes the filter tube longer. It seems odd and not to sturdy. I understand new pan is deeper so I assume it is to move the filter lower.. Does anyone know if this is necassary? Thanks
  6. Thanks guys. The by-pass hose is staying..
  7. Do I still need the By-pass hose from the Waterpump to the Intake?? Ive always had the by pass hose on. 20 years ago when I built the 1st motor I did NOT have the by-pass hose on and it started over heating during break-in. I'v heard that you get a thermostat diffrent thermosat and no need for the By-pass hose.. I am running a Eddy RPM Airgap as well. So the intake is diffrent from the Eddy Performer I had prior.
  8. Took mine all apart and dont remeber which fitting and which hose goes where. BB 454. The Bypass hose and the fittings are 3/4 correct? Which size goes to the Intake and which size goes to the waterpump? Anyone know where they sell the brass fittings? Thanks
  9. Any sugjetions or anything to stay away from. Looks options are VHT or Duplicolor.. Putting a few more coats on. I like the Bright Chevy Orange. VHT looked more red though.
  10. The motor is not stock and should be getting it back soon. The Trans was built a long time ago and I never had any trouble with the trans prior. All the fluid was drained and I bought a b&m 2500 stall for the new engine build. Since the Transmission was not rebuilt I am thinking the best would be to keep using the Standard Dexron that is now available. Just wasn't sure if there was a certain brand or type. Thanks everybody
  11. Finally Putting car back together. Engine and trans will be going back in. Last time I did anything with the trans I was still using Dextron 2 or 3 I belive... New Torque Converter and new front and rear seal but the Trans was not rebuilt.. Which type and brand of fluid shold I use ?? Thanks
  12. Are the rear coil spring isolators only supposed to go on the Top? Is the bottom supposed to be Metal on Metal or is it ok to place them on the top and bottom?
  13. I took apart the fan sandblasted and painted it. I have bought a new Haden 2747 Clutch. I Just want it to stay nice and was going to use some rustoleum clear coat to protect it. Is it stupid to clear it. Will it effect the way it operates if I clear the new clutch assemley before mounting it on the Fan?
  14. Hey there, I just went through the Exact same thing.. Crazy Davey on here and his friend Dal helped me out tremendously. They are really great people. To make a long story short I went with a Roller Cam and lifters, which is more money up front but I belive well worth it. I had 781 Oval heads with Large Valves. Instead of putting more money into them ,and looking everywhere at aluminum heads. I bought the Bare Brodix Race Rite Heads from Summit Belive they are BRO-2060000. They are cheaper at summit by quite a bit vs Jegs when I purchased them. My car is a streed car. 454 / th-400/ 373 rear end.. Good Luck
  15. I bought a set of Valve Covers, the ones in the link below exept they are orange. I didnt think about this until after I purchased them. I used to have a Breather PVC Valve and the oil fill hole. These only have one hole in Each. I still need a PVC valve correct ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/280861896543?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  16. So do you think I should stay away from it and just keep the stock pulley's and belts I have? I was thinking of keeping my brackets and buying the pulleys to change the belt type. But if you have issue with it maybe I should re-think it. I was just doing this thinking it would be a better system than the v-belts and stock pulley's.
  17. Putting car back together and wondering if I should change the Fan. Never had cooling issue. Have a 454 with a 4 core radiator and Ive always had a Flex fan. The only issue I had with it I was overtightning the Alternator my hand slipped and I ended up Slicing through the tendons on my Finger.. I had a broken fan shroud, but now I have a good one. I was going to reuse the Flex fan but saw somewhere there not supposed to be that good? If I dont use that what do I use a clutch Fan?
  18. I was thingking about getting the "March Performance 23050-08" $515.95 @Summit. Any one have/using them? I am also debating about just doing the Pulley's and using my brackets, but wouldnt be saving all that much on it. I like the idea of the diffrent belts and I heard it benifits the car in HP. Anyone have or used them? Any advise is appreciated.. I was thinking of the Black one's. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCH-23050/ ********* Seperatly *********** 7630 Set Drives: Water Pump, Alternator and P.S. $229.95 7231 6 & 5-Rib Crank Pulley 5 3/4” dia. 6312 6-Rib Water Pump Pulley 6 1/4” dia. 208 6-Rib Alternator Pulley w/Cover 2 3/4” dia. part # 623 power sterring $69.88 part # 221 alt fan $43.88
  19. Cool thank you all.. I have the Long Pump then..
  20. How do I tell if I have a long or a short pump ? Thanks Davey. Hopfully be geting the Motor and putting it in a month or so. Havent had time to do anything with the car latley..
  21. Having the engine rebuilt. 454, 60 over 10 to 1. Radiator is a 4 core. Did not have heating issues prior to re-doing the engine. Do I go with a Stock pump or a high volume aluminum Pump? suggestions. Thanks , Alan
  22. I changed mine Years ago to a Gear box out of a 79 Trans Am. I didnt know it then but the shaft that connects the steering Column to the Gearbox is actually two seperate pices. Takes some pounding but they come apart.
  23. Think the Monroes are still a bit short. Looks like I have to go with the Summit Drag Racing Shocks # SUM-G7702 Extended Length (in) 23.000 in. Thats 1/4 inch shy of the Mounting stud. Then with the 3 inch spacer I will have at least some movment the other way. Only about 2 3/4 of an inch but that better than nothing.
  24. So should I get the Summit Racing® Drag Racing Shocks # SUM-G7702 23.000 in. What is the diffrence between those and regular shocks? The other thing I never though about is I have lakewood N0-Hop bars installed on my Car (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LAK-21609/). Maybe that is wat is changing the shock mounting? I ordered the 3 inch Shock extension. Anyone use these? will these be ok? Drag Shocks : Summit Racing® Drag Racing Shocks # SUM-G7702 Extended Length (in) 23.000 in.
