  1. Has anyone used the Frame FX kit by Hellwig on their Monte Carlo? If so what transmission cross member did you use? If you box in the frame it looks like you need to change the way the transmission cross member mounts

  3. Thanks for replying I was under the impression that the frames had a tendency of being a little spongy and adding stiffeners by boxing in the frame couldn’t hurt. Now would be the time to do it
  4. Asking for opinions on boxing the frame in to stiffen it. Is it a good idea or a waste of time? Is there any reasonable priced kits? I have seen some but very pricey.
  5. Thanks working on making the frame repairs. considering boxing the frame. Any opinions?
  6. Here is what I have so far. All body mounts are off. I needed to repair the frame area in the door area. Not to bad so far
  7. Keith What did you use for adjustable tracks? I will need to slide the seat forward and back so both my wife and I can drive
  8. So at this point all I have bought is the seats. It is a conversion from bench to buckets. I am not skinny 260 lbs I still need the mounting hardware and seat adjusting tracks. A bit confused from the comments. Can someone post a link to the best option.
  9. Has anyone used the Procar bucket seats before Interested in feedback here. They look to be a nice alternative for the resto mod conversion
  10. Thanks. I have a factory stock 350 four barrel engine. Only mod has been the intake and carb. Does the shorty headers come with equal length pipes to the collector? My car is being set up for street. Not going to be racing it but we all know how difficult it is not doing a burn out. In my opinion the fun is the looks you get and that traffic light to next light accelaration. I do like the room in the engine bay with short headers. Next is trying to figure out what exhaust size and mufflers to use. Wish I could just hear several different set ups because how she sounds is also on top of my list.
  11. Has anyone ever tried both shorty headers and long tube headers on the same engine and car? If so what was the results? I like the idea of easy fit and a clean looking engine compartment. Let me know
  12. That's the reason for the question I don't know what year or for that matter what car it came from When I purchased my car I got lots of different parts this rear being one of them. Looking to identify it so maybe I can sell it The spring perch is directly over the axle unlike a Monte where the springs perch is mounted forward. The shocks on this rear also go in front of the axle as opposed to the rear of the axle like on a Monte

  14. Axle casting number N 1248321 ANYONE?
  15. CC 035 1 That's the code on the axle tube
  16. This is a 8.5 gm 10 bolt. It has bolt in axles. I do not know what it came out of. Look closely at the lower shock mount studs. They are faced forward. They are also on the inside edge of the lower trailing bars. As opposed to the otter side nearer to the tire. Does anyone know what it may have come out off?
  17. Dave Thanks It's not that I don't like the rear. I do prefer bolt in axle want to change the rear gears even if that means changing the carrier. I just can't be sure what to order. Everything I read says a 8.2 carrier and ring gear but there's the rack it has a 1 1/4 inch pinion nut it also has left hand threads on the ring gear. And the housing has the lugs on the bottom at the 5 and 7 o'clock position My rear is the bolt in axles. The1971-'72 Buick GS/Skylark and Olds Cutlass A-body 8.5 10 bolt did not have C-clip axles. The non C-clip 8.5" 10 bolt, type "C" rearend was used in some 1969-'72 Pontiac GP and 1970-'72 Monte Carlo. There have been non C-clip rearends found in Chevelle wagons, and some El Caminos through at least 1974.
  18. Please see photos This rear has a pinion nut size 1.25 It also has left hand thread ring gear bolts Although I don't have a picture of the rear cover it does have the scallops at the 3amd 9 position
  19. Yes it does have the half moons on the rear cover. As I have been reading all I see is the 8.2 ring gear. But mine has all the identification of a 8.5 ring gear size. Do you know if they came with a 8.5 ring gear?
  20. Do the casting numbers on carrier indicate anything
  21. It is a BOP rear with 28 spline axles 1 1/4 pinion nut Left hand thread ring gear bolts Edge of tooth to edge of tooth ring gear measure 8.5 Can't find info anywhere that there was a 8.5 BOP rear
  22. Can anyone look at the photos and tell me the ring gear size and the carrier series
