  1. Austin are you going to have all four installed the same. Valve stem matching the tires in the same place on all four? Like between the OO's on Goodyear or Goodrich? A nice touch but it can seem anal to the installer. LOL LOL

The new tires will have a paint dab on them denoting where the valve stem should go so they balance up with the least amount of weight.

  2. One more thing to have on hand is a few yards of burlap to go between the frame and foam, it will prevent the springs from damaging the foam. You will see it when the covers and old foam come off.

  3. Buy a hog ring pliers and a box of rings, and new seat foam because the old stuff will fall apart on you. Let the new seat covers sit in the sun for a few hours to soften them up. This is a job anyone can do if they take their time. I did mine here is a shot of it.

  4. This may have been covered before but does anyone know if someone has a in the dash tach with modern innards that will work with a MSD 6a? My original is DOA and needs to be replaced anyways so I was looking for some thing a little more accurate and would work with the MSD ignition. Thanks.

  5. Not really true, I have a factory 12 bolt in mine and it has the 9.5 inch drums, in fact I don't remember seeing the 11.5 inch drums from the factory on any A body, only the full size cars got the 11.5 inch brakes and even then I have seen the 9 inchers on alot of Impalas and Caprices from our era. I also checked Rock Auto and they didn't list a 11 inch option for shoes, just the drums.

  6. I didn't ask for bids, I asked for offers and took the 2nd offer, the first guy only asked how much for them so that was not a offer. I was not out to rape anyone and I wanted to make sure a regular car guy got a fair deal on some parts that are very rare so he could finish his car. I even asked him if they were for him and his car or if he planned to resell them. If the person who bought these wants to say what he paid and what he recieved that's cool with me but I will not devulge the details of the transaction. All I will say is he seemed to be very pleased with the transaction.

  7. I'm using KYB Gas-a-Just, part # KG5504.

Those would be the stock length A body shocks, when I have my SS raised up in the rear like yours those shocks only had about a half inch of extension left in them. It made the car handle the bumps poorly. How does that compare to your car and the shocks.

Note* If you need a longer shock because you have the rear end raised up from stock ride height use a pair from a 1971 Impala or Caprice, the mounting brackets are the same and they are 2 inches longer when extended.
