I got the ones from Retro Sound. They fit pretty good, especially because the Dakota Digital dash takes up a little more room on the driver side than the original one.

are you happy with them, how many watts are you running to them and how is the sound?

Congratulations, Sendo!  I bought my '70 SS the same way ... only from photos and telephone conversations with the seller.  I jumped on it within an hour or two of it appearing on our site but, even so, I was second in line to a local buyer.  I went ahead and made an offer and won by only $500.  There may be a number of little things you'll want to correct/change, but that's the fun of acquiring a pre-owned classic - making it your own.  You may even have a twinge of buyer's remorse when you actually see the car, but it sure looks like a reasonably solid survivor in the photos.

I was really disappointed in how absolutely filthy (primarily dirt and road grime) my SS was when I picked it up.  The engine compartment, interior and trunk had all been neglected but a lot of elbow grease and shop rags later that was resolved.  I see your rear bumper needs to be realigned just like mine did.  I went ahead and refurbished the rear bumper and brackets and may have a project photo journal on Photo Bucket if you're interested.

Enjoy your new ride ... nothing like finally scratching the "SS itch"!  😄

  4. hello,

trying to put the a/c hose on and notice i have very little room between the a/c compressor and the level ride compressor. looking at some pics and see some with the front bracket backwards compared to mines, is mines right or wrong? I don't understand the print with all the lines labeled 25sv,-15 pv,25pv and so on.

does anyone have a pic on where I need to mount my compressor?

    thanks, Sendo

  5. hello,

where is the correct placement of this valve on a 70ss? I googled pictures and seen it mounted all different kind of way, up high on the fender, down low under the a/c line, vacuum part facing back to the firewall, vacuum facing front to radiator

    hello sendo,

if you do a search under load leveling valve  there should be pictures of what you are looking for.   yellow, intake port  red, t fitting lift port   purple, exhaust port    3/8 24 threads. o ring under all fittings into the body.

                                                                                            joseph.

went to lowes and home depot and could not find anything. what kind of fitting are these? lowes only had compression fitting and reg pipe. are these iff?

  7. so I found these fittings on ebay for the air lines, but need the ones that go in between them and the valve, looking a pictures think I need a T on top and single on bottom and what about the exhaust? anyone know the sizes or a part number?

    thanks Sendo

  8. hello,

staring to put this car back together and connected the battery and my fan was on when I turned it off it blew the fuse(a/c tsc sol) put in another fuse and it blew a soon as I turned on the ignition. If I turn the fan on before replacing the fuse it works in all speeds, but as soon as I switch to off the fuse blows, anyone have a clue?

    thanks, Sendo

I checked my stock lower pulleys from the 72 402. I have 2 of them kicking around here, (one I got from a dealer when I built an older Monte, different part numbers, but same pulley dimensions). Both are the same 7 11/16" as you have. The water pump pulley that was on the car originally is 6 3/16" diameter and has a GM part # 3995631AO.  At least on my car, those are the stock pulleys used on a BB A/C engine. What diameter is your WP pulley?

The WP pulley listed above seems to fit both small & big blocks.

don't have time to take it off till next week, but just measuring from the top of the wp shaft its bigger then 6 3/16.

so that may be the problem
