  1. Just got off the phone with Coan and ordered that custom converter that I've been drooling over for sooooo long. It was even on sale for $55 off. Still expensive though.
  2. It's a TCI Break-A-Way 11" advertised as approx 1000RPM over stock, it's been a problem ever since I built this engine. I have to have the idle set pretty high in park so that when I put it in drive it drops down to 900-1000 RPM. Right now I can't seem to get the RPM's up on the line because it seems to overcome the brakes and move the car forward.
  3. Love to see you living your dream. Race on Crazy!!!!
  4. I think before my 60' times were in the mid to high 1.90's which I thought were pretty bad. I don't feel that the car is spinning off the line at the track even though it does on the road. This new carb seems to have more power at the launch maybe because of the extra shot of gas with the double pumper? I'm not sure about the air that day. I guess that I should have checked that. I know that the car REALLY needs a converter to match the cam I've got. I guess the cost plus the work to put it in have kept me from calling and ordering it. I've got the 1350 yoke and spacer set for the rear end so I can upgrade the driveshaft next, then on to the converter.
  5. I changed from a old 750 vac. secondary carb to a Pro systems 830 carb. On the street it seemed to be a lot faster than before.
  6. yeah,on the bright side the belt didn't come off at all after moving the alt. down inline with the water pump. The times on the best run were 1.87- 60', 5.26 - 330',7.57 - 594', 8.09 @86.68mph 1/8th, 10.55@98.83mph-1000', 12.68@108 -1/4. Does any of these numbers seem out of place?
  7. I went to the local track's test and tune Saturday hoping to run a new personal best. I ended up with a best of 12.63 @ 108mph. Not as fast as I was hoping for. The best run that I had before this was the very first run ever with this engine a 12.68. The last few times that I have been to the track it seems to run ok but my times seem to be getting slower, last time out I think that 12.80's or 12.90's was the best I could do. I'm starting to think that I've got some other problem with the car. Could be so many things, cam losing a lobe, fuel presure droping off, torque converter going bad,it's hard to know were to start sometimes.

    Belt Thrower

I ordered a March brand mid mount bracket from Jeg's today. I'll try some of your ideas for getting it lined up. Better alignment and a shorter belt will hopefully do the trick. Thanks guys.

Sam, I was looking at new brackets on line. Were the ones you got March brand?

    Belt Thrower

Well my car has developed a new problem. I can't seem to keep the water pump, alt. belt on at higher rmp's. I drove to a show yesterday about a half hour drive both ways at 2800-3000 rmp without any problems, but when I tried to run through the gears on a open stretch of road near my house shifting at 6000rmp sure enough the belt came off. Luckly I had some tools with me. I put a new belt on it a while back and am wondering if it's the right one. What size belt should I be using? Maybe I've got the wrong width or something.I've been trying to make sure the alighnment is right and it looks pretty good so now I'm looking at the belt.

    New Carb.

Well I got the Monte to idle with david's help. Turns out it just needed the idle mixture srews adjusted a little bit. I took it out for a test and wow your right Crazy Davey it is a tire burner now. Launcing off the foot brake it used to just leave, now it's a tire smoking ordeal,ha ha. Looking forward to seeing how much faster it is at the track.

    New Carb.

Got to figure out the picture thing again, the way I used to do it won't work anymore. I got it put on tonight and started up but in won't seem to idle for some reason. I'll have to check it out latter. I think that it's a 950 body worked down to a 830.

    New Carb.

Wow, I can't believe it. I ordered the Pro Systems carb. on Monday afternoon and it was sitting on my porch when I came home from work today ( Wed.) unreal. I haven't even put it on and I'm already impressed.
  15. wow, isn't it crazy how people can be that good on the tree, even with a trans brake?

    New Carb.

Man, I can't wait. I told them that I have a converter that seems too tight for my current cam. The converter I have now is a TCI Break A Way about 1000rmp stall over stock, but coupled with a solid lifter Comp Cam that's duration is 296. I plan on replacing it with a Coan aprox 3200-3500 stall so they are building the carb to match the looser converter. I really want to see the difference the carb. and converter make together. I think that I'm gonna like it.

    New Carb.

Well after hearing all the good stuff everyone says about those Pro System carbs I finaly called and ordered one for my car. Should be improvement over my 15+ year old vacuum secondary 750.
  18. Davey, Pretty good idea. I always thought of a two step being used with a trans brake before. Sounds like it works good! I'd love to get those kind of lights!!!!
  19. I've also seen this car at the last couple of Dragweeks and it's really nice! Fast too, a soild 8 second car. I love the fact that the interior is pretty much stock.
  20. David, You just need a Gear Vendors, lower gears, and a 6 point roll bar....that should do it for now.
  21. Congats David, I guess that you'll have to stop calling your car slow now.
  22. I ended up putting the stock axle back in on the other side and was able to get a measurement to go by. I worked on it last night and was able to get one side pretty much done. Ahhh progress at last.
  23. Thanks Mike. I guess I'll just have to take some measurments and make sure that I don't end up with clearance issues. I'm happy to just be working on it again. Hopefully I can get it back together and still do something with it this summer.
  24. I also cut the axles off at the c clip grooves. Maybe someone could take a look at their car and let me know how much clearance there is between the inside edge of the brake drum and the sheet metal lip that goes around the lower half of the brake backing plate. The more I press the eliminators on the axle the smaller that gap will become.
