  3. Hi MG, According to the pics, my previous vynil seems to be an "aftermarket kind" without the chrome border. Where can I find the vynil code ? In my VIN ? I'm still looking for the build sheet of my Monte... and I guess it is written on it.

  5. Hi, Sorry I didn't had time to answer about the vynil... Actually mine is an aftermarket. The original vynil was in very bad condition. I have never noticed the difference between original and aftermarket vynil
  6. Ahahah yes it looks like Today a tried to replace my headliner. Did not know how to do start... I tried to look all around the headliner and finally give up... Will try that later, it's too cold to work on my Monte

  8. Some news of french Monte...! I finally got my Monte. I drove it back home, about trouble-free 600 miles. It was the sweetest day of my car-guy life !!! The bad thing is that it's 2bbl 350 but it runs pretty well. I don't know how or why, but wheels spin easily when you hit the gas pedal Thought 2bbl where boat anchors... I was wrong. Anyway, I hope to get soon a decent dual plane intake and a 4bbl carb. Here is me trying to move the car

  10. Today I simply washed my Monte... I officially own it for 5 days now I did a heavy buffing as the paint was dull... Looks better now
  11. Hi, I finally got my Monte Carlo ! The carb work well now. In fact it was not a Quadrajet but a simple Rochester 2 valves... Here is a pic : The part with a blue arrow (sorry I do not know the name...) was the problem... A bad tuning was causing the rod to go out...

  13. Hi Mike, Unfortunately I am not able to check anything. My car is stil in my friend's home... I will check the two springs on Saturday. My friend told me that he has to jump on the brake pedal and he turned off the key on then everything was ok. He as pretty scared ! Originally Posted By: wallaby That is a serious problem. At WOT it's hard to turn off the key and get the engine to stop. It's not a common problem with the Q-jet, but I've seen it before (1 time). With the carb that had this problem it turned out that it had a broken spring at the position marked "C" in your picture. Look closely. The linkage your arrow points to is for the accelerator pump. At the idle position it realy isn't pushing against anything and may be free to rattle around a bit. I'm not sure what you mean by it being loose...I've not seen one come undone. Hi Mark, Sounds like a broken or missing spring... I will get springs with me and Saturday I will check if anything is missing... When I say "loosen" I mean free to rattle. Can the accelerator pump rev the engine ?! Thank you all for your help.
  14. Hi, I when I hit the gas pedal, at WOT, the carwill get stuck in full throttle... The carb is the stock Quadrajet (4MV I guess) that comes up with the L48 350. My friend who drove the car said that the linkage is loosen (see red arrow on the pic bellow). Do you have any recommendation ? I will drive the car back to my home soon... Thank you all
  15. Hi buddies, I am questioning myself about camshaft... I got aluminum heads for my L48 small block and a nice Performer Air-Gap Intake. My goal is low end torque, from idle to 5000 rpm and keeping a decent mileage. Heads are 62cc (intake runner 170cc, exhaust 69cc and 2.020 / 1.60 valves). I Got true dual exhaust and stock converter. I wonder which cam fits the best my needs ?

  17. Hi, just a short video of my Monte... As my friend says in french, vacuum hoses should be inspected...You can hear backfires (engine was cold). Paint is dirty, and interior is too... On the rear fender the paint is dull... Do you have any idea how to make it shine ?
  18. Yes the dent sucks a lot ! As Dennis says, many people encounter problems whith shipping. Sometimes it's little things, sometimes not... Anyway, I am trying to find a deal with the company. I know 4 Monte here in France. I guess two (french) Monte owners knows this forum I am really proud to own this Monte. I like american cars so much... (My daily driver is a little Park Avenue).

  20. Hi everybody ! I bought my Monte back in 2010. It is a 72 californian car in pretty good shape. A friend of my friend who lives in US bought it for me and did some maintenance to make it a decent runner. New vinyl top, new 2,5" dual exhaust, new bumpers and some other little things. Now it's in France, since a few days. Here are some pics (As you can, there is a bump on the front fender... something bad happened during shipping... ) :

  22. Thank you all ! I bought a (brand new) 2 1/2" exhaust system before the car leaves US For the carb, I do not want to bigger than my Quadrajet. (maybe rejet it if needed). Ok for a simple dual plane intake (it was my first idea). For the heads, I have to find a great price, taxes + shipping are a pain in the a** ! I have found these heads on jegs... Maybe not the best i can find, but it should do the trick ! And of course, a HEI and a good recurve and timing !
  23. Sam, as I said before, I do not want to change my gear. I want to keep low rpm while cruising. ( Here in France, most of our highway are limited to 80 Mph... )
  24. Any other advice to wake-up my sluggish L48 with a good cam and a good intake ? btw, what's the difference between un single and dual plane when it comes to low end torque ?
