  1. Yeah... a lot of fresh carb work needs to be done with the engine off. Almost lost my long hair one day thanks to a backfire lol
  2. so... a Long screw driver or an extended socket that can reach from the side of the car to the cover. and then have myself or someone else remove the ring out while the other holds the plate down? Simple enough Thank you
  3. either you need to adjust your choke or your timing O.o
  4. I finally found the culprit to the leaking transmission! Accumulator Cover leak! (took me 3 hours looking up what the round thing was!) now my question is... how do I remove it to replace the O-Ring? or can I just coat it in Silicone and hope for the best?
  5. <.< That's a holley 650 Carb... it's the model to replace a Q-jet and when I got the car, the original Q-jet it had on it was junk so I replaced it with this and now it's well, ya know lol least it runs! lol
  6. I have long hair... I would probably get my hair cut before actually rebuilding a tranny
  7. Passenger Side, Front. Passenger side, Front again but this time you can see those 2 lines on the front bottom leading back to my vacuum advance. Driver side, Front. Just wanted you to see the line heading from my valve cover to my carb. (I still don't understand these lines, I'm sure others will help out ) Driver Side, Side. Nothing special just the side lol Driver Side, Back side. you can see that thick line running from the master cylinder to the back of the carb. Sorry my engine is a mess... I kinda feel ashamed to show it because it's a mess... but I figured I would help anyways lol By the way. The lighting is crap because I don't have proper lighting in my shop... just a shop light... lol
  8. I'm trying. I've been doing a LOT of reading on them. as for rebuilding them... haha I doubt I can do that any time soon lol Anyways I'm heading to bed, get that sound clip/vid up sometime soon and I'm sure most of us will try our best to help I'll even ask a few outside sources (my parts guy lol)
  9. I actually have a friend with a truck just like that, but his is black lol he's got a turbo 350... but your friend has a 700r4... so basically a TH350 with overdrive (I've been trying to learn more about transmissions lately... stupid leaky tranny! lol)
  10. one way to really give us an example would be to get a small vid or sound clip. I know you do that well so you could use your talents to your advantage and let us see/hear what you're talking about (keeps the windows rolled up too... hard to hear engine/tranny noises when wind hits a Mic)
  11. I just put on a Holley 650 the other month. I'll take some pictures tonight or tomorrow and have them up for you. are you running a vaccum advance Distributor? also... that line running from your brake booster... goes in the back of your carb down near the very bottom... DON'T DRIVE WITHOUT IT! it makes stopping VERY difficult and there is a very good chance it will hardly run as well... one last thing before I provide pics is, those little screws on the sides of your bowls... I turned them all the way in then turned them out 3/4ths of a turn and the car ran great after that. anyways... yeah I'll get pics for you tomorrow if that's ok... OR if you're online now I can go get them...
  12. that's cheating! lol I do like the idea of the serpentine belt assembly though... Darn Budget Classics!
  13. if all else fails.... and you're feeling destructive... find a grenade and throw it in the engine after you remove it from the car... I just wanna know how that works out
  14. well, what I'm talking about can come in all shapes and sizes... do you know when that engine was last taken out? if it was taken out anytime soon (3-4 years) it should have a threaded wire running somewhere off the block to the frame... anything a bit older could be anything, just look for a wire running off your block to your frame... honestly it could be ANYWHERE along the sides of your block, just gotta look. A tip for this is to just look for wires being bolted directly to the frame...
  15. hey, I know I'm a bit late on Jumping in... but have you checked the ground running from the block to the frame? I just had to do that to mine and it's actually not missing anymore... I used an old battery wire and ran it from the back of the alternator mount to the frame... haha I know it's a bit of a junk idea but it's working and I fixed another problem
  16. You live TOOO far away! did you really do all that in a span of 1-2 days?! I wish I could sit down and do something even close to that... that fast... actually i just wish I could do something that good... I'm running a Budget Monte lol
  17. You've given me an idea! Thanks Andy! Vintage Fedora for a Vintage Car lol
  18. also a quick check to see if it's the rings is to watch the exhaust smoke. a blueish tint would be a good hint it's the rings, also, check the end of the exhaust pipe. really good indication if there is oil there lol could also be a cracked head... check your dipstick to see if it's grey.
  19. it's ok, one day you'll step down from couches and hit pillows. I hear that helps lol Steve, Again, welcome to the First Gen Monte Carlo Club! Don't ever feel intimidated by these guys, girls, or the Monte it's self. These guys, girls and the monte are all a lot like cats on catnip. I mean this in the best of ways so if you don't like cats then you're like a walrus on.... sand? Either way. I'm sure you can find anything ya need here! it's like the Walmart of Monte Carlos!
  20. yeah.... man... this nails it, you guys are nuts! that's ok though I feel at home even more. and it's somehow inviting for new people too! Welcome Steve! don't let them scare you all to much!
  21. sounds similar to my problem since I've finally got the car running. I have asked around locally and they're saying that my oil may be to thin, it needs changed anyways so... yeah.... I'll double check torque converter bolts and.... yeah I'll pull the valve covers as well...
  22. so then my power valve should be very close to fine. maybe .5 off... I'm not running it on the strip, I'm simply wanting a great ride and to get the classics known Sooo, it should be fine... right?
  23. It has the screw thing... I was told it was adjustable... errr, I am staring to think it's not adjustable, a little help on what THAT thing is lol
  24. kk, so would and adjustable work if I turned it out?
