  1. Any ideas on how I can 'tweak' it to bring the temp down a little? Also, how can I go about moving the temperature probe from the head to the radiator? Still staying around 205-210, 220 when idling in traffic at a red light. That's also with the a/c not hooked up. Worried that when I get the a/c going the temp will get worse.
  2. This is the wiring harness http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10560/10002/-1 I beleive the fan is one of these. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/52110/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/52105/10002/-1
  3. It is in the engine...right side cylinder head. Found the instructions and they say to mount it in the cylinder head or intake manifold (per your application)
  4. 502...fan stays on probably 15 minutes. It keeps running until the temp gauge gets around 160 or so, until it reaches the off temp for the fan. So far no issues with battery drain.
  5. Temp on my motor stays around 210. Is this within the normal range? Car has a BeCool radiator, measures about 25" x 19". Jegs 16" electric fan that kicks on at 185, off at 170. Whoever installed it didn't hook the fan to a switched hot so it comes on and stays on until the motor cools down, even after the car is turned off. Still trying to get the bugs worked out of the car since it was like this when I bought it.
  6. You mean rear gear or on the tranny?
  7. OK, According to the Garmin...at 55-60 the speedo is about 3-4 mph off...speedo is faster. And 114 on the Garmin is just past 120 on the speedo (Or so I hear---Looking innocent)
  8. I have a Garmin nuvi in my work car. Picking the Monte up from the transmission shop this evening so I'll take it along and see what the Garmin says.
  9. Has anyone ever checked to see if their speedo was reading correctly? Checked mine against my 05 Silverado today. Truck read 72 while the Monte read 80. As far as I know tranny and rearend are stock. Also still has the stock rally wheels. Tires are B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's, size 245/60-15. (Everything on the truck is factory too)
  10. Thanks for all the imput guys. 72MC, Thorleys were my #1 choice, just don't know if I can swing that price and still feed the family.
  11. Plan on swapping out the rusted Hedman headers and putting an all new exhaust on the Monte before long and was wondering what headers everyone is using? What do you like or dislike? Any negative experiences with certain brands? I'm kind of leaning toward the Hooker Competitions, maybe with their ceramic coating or buying a set from Jet Hot with that coating. For the rest I'm thinking Torque Tech 2 1/2 pipes w 'X' pipe and possibly Flowmasters. Going on a 71 with 350/350,coluum shift. That is a great pic! Does my heart good to see a 1st Gen pulling the wheels like that.....oh, if it were only mine!
  13. I need the trunk seal for mine. I know OPG has it, I just hate to pay more for shipping than for the part.
  14. I HATE IT! Just kidding, wish mine was close to that nice. You really put a lot of work into it and created a really nice ride.
  15. It will pull out maybe a couple of inches or slightly more and if you let it go it will spring back most of the way.
  16. Got everything done on the car now except the kickdown cable. I know it hooks onto an 'S' in the tranny but no matter how hard I pull I cant get it to pull out far enough to unhook it. Can't even see the 'S'. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to drop the pan in order to unhook it?
  17. Got a new kickdown cable, slotted part broke on the original. I'm gonna try to get it installed this weekend and see what happens then.
  18. That's what I was thinking. May have to order some made to the length I want. Don't know if there is anyone around here that can do it.
  19. Thanks, gonna have it on jackstands to change the springs and shocks later this week. I'll check that while I'm at it.
  20. If you use braided steel to make your own, will the regular hose ends work or do you need the kind that have to be clamped on by machine?
  21. O.K., Before I have someone tear into the tranny thought I'd ask here. Former owner put a Jegs convertor and TCI shift kit in. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/60400/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/326200/10002/-1 The car shifts really soft and seems to shift a little too early. He also never hooked up the tranny kickdown linkage. Any ideas on what I should check?
  22. OK, Thanks..the year is '71'.
  23. Hi guys, new to the forum even though I've been checking it out for a while. Finally joined when I was able to locate and buy another Monte Carlo. (Just brought it home yesterday after having to drive it from Columbus OH. to Meridian, MS.)I know I've seen the answer to this question on here before but can't seem to find it again. Where on the rear axle do I find the code to determine rear ratio? Thanks for the help....
