That sounds sweet. Very nice

When you say its a square pan do you mean square with the one corner off or square? this is a 3 speed auto right. Some did come with powerglide which was a 2 speed auto. Just want to make sure you have the right info.

When I log in and check the box that says remember me it dont. It used to remember me and would be loged in whenever I came on but since I updated my anti virus program it dont. I use AVG anti virus. Its not a huge deal just kind of a pain. Thanks

My question is why do you need to take it completly apart. just clean it up and sand blast it all together then you can replace or repair the backing plates. Just make sure you clean the sand out of the tight areas (pinion and axles) if you pull the axles to change the backing plates change the axel seals

Yes I do belive so, but isnt there a bearing in the clutch plate on the front see how much play there is in that if any.

I did learn a little trick a while back by mistake but it works great. Go to the dollar store and go to the bathroom cleaner isle and get a prodect called the works toilet bowl cleaner its in a white bottle with a blue lable. pour some on the fitting very carefully let it sit for a while then repete. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL ON ANYTHING YOU DONT WANT RUINED this stuff is acid and burns like heck. it will help remove the rust. make sure you rinse it off afterwards and it will eat skin and clothes so be carefull. but its great for removing rust it melts it away. Oh yea it works pretty good on calicum build up on toilets too.

It may be to late for you but if you havent been into one for a while or ever its better to lay all the parts out on the bench in order as you take them out that way they can go back in the same way. Thats how they tought us in gm school. Of corst after the 3rd or 4th time the instructor would move parts around and take parts out and not tell us untill it was back together if we didnt figure it out. Also check your repair manual some of them have a pretty good breakdown. Good luck.

There is a tool for that lock plate. You can get it apart without it but getting it back together is nearly impossable. Its simply called a steering lock plate tool. good luck

How effective are the additives I saw that stabil has one out for that? I was going to try it this year. Lets see now, an additive for the oil (zinc)an additive for the gas (lead substute) and now another for the gas. Its getting even more expensive to fill up and change the oil.

That looks to purdy to start up and run but make sure theres a video when you do. Great job.
Oil Light?

Low oil pressure triggers the light. how low was it? you should check for oil leaks and maybe check oil more often. you really dont want that light on
