There is a tool for that lock plate. You can get it apart without it but getting it back together is nearly impossable. Its simply called a steering lock plate tool. good luck

How effective are the additives I saw that stabil has one out for that? I was going to try it this year. Lets see now, an additive for the oil (zinc)an additive for the gas (lead substute) and now another for the gas. Its getting even more expensive to fill up and change the oil.

That looks to purdy to start up and run but make sure theres a video when you do. Great job.

Carpet is in, rear seat is done and in, front seat bottom is done and in, seat belts are in. Just have to finish up the front seat backs and final trimming on carpet. This old body said not today to the rest. Everything on me hurts even my hurt hurts. Still to much salt to take it out anyhow now we need some more rain. Pictures will follow when complete.

I bought a new set of blades and of corse there black so I removed the rubber part and painted the metal silver to match and reinstalled. then I decided they really didnt match so I removed the arms and the blades again cleaned and skuffed them and repainted the whole unit then cleared over the whole thing then reinstalled. Gee now that I look at it thats an awfull lot of work for something i've only used 4 times but it does look good.

Like Tony said lacquer thinner on a rag but dont get it on the paint you dont want removed.

The front bottom proved to be the most difficult a lot of pulling tuggging and stretching and of course cutting. But I wrestled with it for a while tonight untill my daughter got home. Then we had our triditional green beer together as we do every year in honer of my dad. He would have been 90 today. Him and I started doing it when I was just a kid and my daughter joined us when she was 16 now its just her and I. Any how heres the seat almost complete. The next pictures will be when its all back together.
