  1. Many years ago (Aug 1996) I replaced my stock AM/FM stereo with an aftermarket "Custom Autosound" Kenwood 800 AM/FM stereo for $399.00 + tax. It did have a plug in the rear, so I added a CD changer in the trunk. I bought the Kenwood 10 CD player, used, from my old boss, don't remember how much. The CD will skip at times when I drive over a bump but I like it, playing all my old CD's.

  2. Some pictures from my 71, No A/C Monte.

This very small push button with spring is what you push in then pull the knob and shaft out to see the area that requires tightening

(Click to expand this picture) FYI, on my 71 column shift I show this for info if you remove the instrument cluster. Remember to unhook the thin wire cable that attached from the shift column to the cluster PRND21 indicator.

FYI on my 71, here is the headlight switch with the plug / connector removed to show the 7 connectors I have on mine. You need to make sure to match what number and position your vehicle requires. Some aftermarket replacements DON'T have the correct / same number of plugs and won't work correctly.

Thought I would pass along some unrelated but, good to know, items for everyone.

  4. It was a wonderful day today so I took my 71 for a ride, then washed it and covered it up.

Our oldest grandson should be visiting this Thanksgiving and now that he has his learner's permit, I hope the weather is nice and HE can take ME for a nice ride in my Monte, his first DRIVE!

We would take him and his younger brother to Woodward Dream Cruise every year since he was a toddler but then they moved away over 6 years ago now. Picture of his first Woodward cruise.

  6. Found this page on FaceBook today (Lost Muscle Cars) and thought I would pass it on.

I will be adding (I hope) my wife's first car a Red 1973 Mercury Cougar. It was stolen way back in 1979 from the parking lot where she worked.

    Not related, but......

I had a video chat with a company 10+ years ago, that was working on a new TV show where they would help people find their old car.

I couldn't wait to watch this show but it never made it.

  7. I have only seen 3 or 4 "Son Of A Critch" TV shows (Show is set in Canada in the 1980's) and today watching one from Christmas, there was a 71 Monte in it. I noticed a different tall hood ornament and wider rally wheels. I think it was a med dark bronze color.

The Uncle told his 15 year old nephew he would sell it to him after the kid gave him a $1,000 deposit. SCAM...OnSonofaCritchTVshow.thumb.JPG.4a68814ff43048020c3c5164b3587b20.JPG
