  2. Quick question: are you planning on driving the car on the street? I assume you have thought about this, but removing your steel bumpers will turn any small ding or bump into a huge one. I was at the track with my Buick a few years ago, and a tire rolled off a racer's trailed and into a friend's car w/ fiberglass front bumper. The tire took out the bumper, grill, header panel, radiator, and rad support. If he had kept his steel bumper it'd have been fine! Just food for thought -- also trying to dig up pics of this incident, I know they are somewhere!
  3. Yep the mileage would be a good perk cruising down to OC!

    LSX swap

Hi Folks- Just wanted to let you know that I am planning an LSX/T56 swap into something next winter. I still miss my 70 monte, and am considering tracking it down or buying another one. That being said, I am also considering doing another grand national, so that might have to be it! My goal is to have something that is quick, reliable, safe, and, most importantly, fun to drive! Current plans / parts list is as follows: LQ4 H/C, magnacharger T56 BRP swap kit Moroso oil pan wait4meperformance standalone harness BRP headers SC&C AFX front suspension kit KORE3 C6 discs on all fours CCW classic 18's HRpartsnStuff rear suspension package I wish I hadn't sold that LS2/T56 I had a few summers ago, that'd have made my parts cobbling a lot easier! I have some time (planning build next winter) to figure out which platform I'd like to do. With the state of the economy, I should have a pretty good selection by then. BTW, if I do a g-body, it will be a GN, and no, I'm not worried about "ruining a GN!" I hope everyone is doing ok! MD
  5. Revival... My 1970 MC had a powerglide with a 350 2bbl and AC.
  6. Have you hit up ls1tech.com? lots of a body swaps there.
  7. I dont' know about the cam, but I would go with the Edelbrock 1406 electric choke 600 cfm carb. As for the vortecs, you would need a new intake because the bolt patterns are different between the vortecs and the standard pre-86 chevy bolts. They are great heads, though, for the money. I would get a set if I had the money; I believe Jim Pace Performance Parts has a deal where you get the heads, bolts, and your choice of 3 intakes (performer, performer RPM, and GM) and some other stuff for 600-700 bucks. Definitely a good deal, it has been heavily discussed on the monte carlo mailing list (monte-list.nu). Have a nice night ------------------ Matt Dwyer
  8. I have the chance to get one of these shifters, i'm looking at that one or a hurst promatic 2 ratchet shifter to put in my bench seat 70. Is there any thing I could do before I put the tranny in to make the job easier? Thanks alot MAtt
  9. yeah i use them, they're great, especially with my new alternator. i've been playing around with the idea of getting driving lights and putting them either in the grill or in the parking lights somehow... but that will come later. Matt
